The village is located on the slope of Vrysina mountain at an altitude of 300 meters and at a distance of 9 kilometers from Rethymno. In the settlement with a wonderful view of the Cretan sea there are many Venetian houses, a 17th century fountain and the church of the Entry of the Virgin, where many frescoes are preserved. It is known as “the balcony of Rethymno” thanks to its outstanding view of the area, the sea and famous White Mountains!
500 m. south of the village is the cave of Lygeri, formed in neogene limestone. The cave features stalactites and stalagmites, with a 250 m long corridor. According to the legend, a lightsome girl died there. A second version wants the cave to take its name from a brave woman, whom the Turks, after capturing her, forced her to change her beliefs, and then sent her as a slave to a harem in the East.
The village has a couple traditional taverns and cafe's, and a mini-market.

Villa Shine (190 sq.m) is independent & features a private pool, a BBQ facility, free parking, and a marvelous panoramic view. The villa spans three levels, with each of the five bedrooms having an ensuite bathroom. You can enjoy your evening by the pool, gazing at the sunset, or playing billiards in the playroom.
