We've been visiting Kiawah every year since before our two sons were born. They're now grown and on their own, but still join us with their wives every year for our annual family vacation. We've built decades of happy memories on the Island and continue to create new memories even with adult sons. We want our guests to do the same.
We enjoy going on the beach together to swim, lounge on beach chairs, play catch, take walks, collect shells or go kayaking. (When the kids were small, we endlessly built sand castles with moats.)
One of our favorite things to do now is walk or bike to the west end of the beach at low tide to try to catch the dolphins breaching--swimming up fleetingly on the shore of the Kiawah River as they feed on small fish. This past year, we saw a whole family of dolphins, including a baby--a thrilling sight and a first for us! We also enjoy going to the beach each evening as the sun goes down to view the breathtaking, panoramic sunsets and moonrises from our section of the beach.
