The house is great, very comfortable, well appointed kitchen, lots of nice, fluffy towels in the bathrooms, comfy beds and adequate closet space. It’s a great space for families or more than one couple. A nice touch was the hotel sized shampoos, soaps and conditioners in the bathrooms in case toiletries had been forgotten. We really loved the front and back decks, and had nice time barbecuing, relaxing in the lounge chairs, eating outside and watching the full moon rise from the front deck. The bunk room, though we didn’t use it, is a great feature. Kids would LOVE it, especially with the addition of the foosball table, games and puzzles.
My only complaint was the very spotty cleaning. The carpeting was very dirty overall and stained in almost every room (large, very obvious stains that were, quite frankly, gross). None of the six bath mats had been washed, a number of the drinking glasses and dishes had been put away dirty, and the house was very dusty throughout. To their credit, the rental company offered to have the carpets cleaned while we were there. We opted not to do that, though I did vacuum them thoroughly. Their response to the rest of the issues was basically, “Sorry, we used a different cleaning service this time. Our usual cleaner is very detail oriented”. I’d suggest they do a walk through on a regular basis, especially when using a new cleaner. The house, with rental cost, fees, cleaning and taxes, cost us over $450/day. For that price, I’d expected to arrive to a home that was clean and not in need of any work on my part. I wasn’t expecting pristine, but clean. Instead I spent part of our first day there cleaning. Not acceptable. (FYI, I’m not a clean freak. I live in a large 100 year old farm house on a working horse farm, have a family, horses, four dogs, and a cat. Despite all of that, my home is always clean).
I don’t mean to be overly negative because we really liked the house and enjoyed ourselves both at the house and in Lake Tahoe. It really is a great house!
