THE CASTLE



At the heart of the estate stands Castell de Villavecchia, built in 1894 by renowned architect Enric Sagnier i Villavecchia. From the original wooden structures and round tower to the private chapel featuring works by Frederic Marès, the castle exudes historical charm and quiet grandeur.

The castle has been thoughtfully renovated as a high-end holiday retreat and event venue. Original features — woodwork, select furniture, historic tile — have been preserved, while interiors have been updated for contemporary comfort.



Ten of the twelve bedrooms have modern en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers; most include a private seating area. High-speed dual Wi-Fi (Starlink + 5G, installed October 2025) covers all rooms and common spaces — reliable for video calls, presentations, and streaming alike. Central heating throughout.

Located just 40 metres from the castle, the guesthouse provides independent accommodation for up to 13 guests across 5 rooms — ideal for extended families, friend groups that want a bit of autonomy, or support staff on a corporate programme.

The Pool and Mirador Terrace – 1,242 m²: The heart of summer life at the castle. A 15 × 3 m pool with panoramic views of the Montseny mountains, surrounded by sun loungers and parasols. Perfect for long afternoons in the sun, alfresco dining, evening aperitifs, or simply doing nothing at all. Guest restrooms are located in a restored dovecote nearby.



The Chapel Garden – 621 m²: A peaceful garden framed by the chapel's façade — ideal for ceremonies, welcome drinks, group photos, or a quiet morning coffee.

Castell de Villavecchia sits at the end of a private forest lane in the mountains of Les Guilleries — on its own hill, with open views, no through traffic, and virtually no immediate neighbours.



The estate is well connected to both Barcelona and Girona, making it an accessible yet genuinely secluded base for exploring the region.



The nearest village, Sant Hilari Sacalm (3.5 km), sits at 930 metres altitude and offers a supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, local restaurants, and a wellness spa. Known as "the town of a hundred springs," it's a pleasant stopover with authentic Catalan character.



The wider region offers hiking in the Guilleries Natural Park, swimming and kayaking at the Sau and Susqueda reservoirs, and day trips to medieval villages like Rupit, Vic, and Osor. Girona (35 km) offers fine dining, a UNESCO-listed old town, and easy rail connections. The Costa Brava is around 1.5 hours by car.
