What's pictured is beautiful and accurate... It's the things not pictured that were substandard and disappointing…
The main living area was comfortable and spacious just as the pictures…
-The home was clean (except for the frig & oven).
-Nice sheets with comfortable beds.
-Ample street parking.
-Ample seating for 10-15 people with the two tables (note issue below).
-View was amazing, though obstructed by other buildings.
-The property is pet friendly!
-The host provided muffins, milk, orange juice, coffee & tea.
There were some things NOT pictured…
-Deck is NOT private or contained as advertised. It is one deck shared by ALL guests.
-MANY wilted plants and other odd items on the deck (looked junky – probably ok in the summer)
-Frig was full of condiments (ie: full door – some expired or almost empty)
-Main bath had an old tub with a jimmy rigged shower (ie: not installed by a professional and difficult to use).
-Almost all doors are glass with curtains. The curtains into many rooms were lacey and didn’t provide privacy. (even into bathroom & bedroom windows – ie: other guests can look in on occupants)
-Cubie should not be a room. One wall has quilt batting covered with a curtain (basically it’s an unfinished homemade addition). French door windows to outside were covered with a weird paint film.
-Heater to cubie tripped a breaker at 10:40pm the last night (luckily there were many extra blankets & extension cords to bring in a lamp from the living room)
-TV set-up is odd and difficult to use (worst I’ve seen in a vacation rental).
Other oddities…
-Overlooked some fine print which was discovered at the last minute… In summary, the owner wanted to charge an hourly fee for any visitors (not overnight guests – just dinner guests). She said it was due to the septic system…though dinner guests don’t do much other than sit and visit.
My Uncle rented two other rooms.
-In order to rent the Annex room(for a cousin), she needed to stop by (showed up at least an hour late). The annex was block off twine tied across the door. (not a simple lock – it was very odd and unattractive). The good thing is, it had a normal shower that we all enjoyed using on our second night.
-The room my Uncle stayed in also had opportunities for improvement. The door to his deck was falling off the hinges. His kitchen was NOT a full kitchen as advertised. The shower was jimmy rigged tub with pvc pipe for curtain rods, home-made shower, and no place to set soap, etc.
