Seven of us enjoyed a perfect long weekend here over the summer. The property is better than large enough to accommodate more, and is finished in a mid-century desert style I found so alluring and tasteful that over the course of our vacation, I began to entertain the idea that perhaps I was becoming more attractive and confident by association. On more than one occasion, I found myself wondering: is this Eames chair making my hair softer? You may say that better design can't make you a better person. I say don't be a fool.
Instead, go and relax amid the easy splendor of this AZ gem. Take in the cool polish of the concrete floors, and drag away the glass walls that open like skirts to the outdoors on perfect days. Have a go on one of the plush, giant beds, and notice the way that all of the drawers close with a slightly weighty, velvetish thud that feels almost exactly like pocketing a hundred dollars. Revel in the majesty of the Kitchen and grill--each set up for serious home cooks, or if that isn't your thing, rest easy knowing that the house is also convenient to a number of great food options in Tucson (i.e. all of the taquerias). Maybe you'll fire up the sound system and play your favorite LP from speakers hidden in the low-slung eaves while you take in the astonishing hilltop view outside, and when you've had your fill of weeping at sunsets to the petty, criminal fretwork of Elvis Costello, you'll break the pristine surface of the pool for some antic fun.
After all that, if you can say you aren't somehow better than you were before, I'll concede. And I'll also happily take your rental spot.
