I hate to leave a bad review, as we have had an excellent experience renting from vacasa for 10+ years. Unfortunately, after this trip, we will no longer rent from vacasa. We booked the Audoban house #6 last year (as we have done for 10+ years), but were notified a few months ago that we would have to relocate due to the owners no longer renting through vacasa. Vacasa offered this location as an alternative. We have stayed in these villas before (not this unit) and were okay with moving, as the grounds are gorgeous and the location is great. When we opened the door to the unit, we were immediately hit with the overwhelming smell of wet mold/mildew. The unit felt damp and smelled horrible. My mother and I are both highly allergic to mold, we take medication and do allergy shots to help this. If we are exposed for too long, it will result in headaches, nausea, and breathing problems. I immediately reached out to vacasa to request a move. Of course the number I called had to reach out to the local office, which never reached out to me. I must have called and texted with 5+ people trying to resolve this issue. Their solution (after 2 hours of me continuously calling) was to send a cleaning crew in the morning. I declined that offer as that would not help this issue. The unit was visibly clean and taken care of. This is absolutely not a cleaning crew issue- it was obviously very well taken care of. They said there were no available places for us to relocate. They asked me if there was visible mold in the unit, which I told them was not the problem. However, since being here for 3 days, mold has since grown on the blinds. I have also found mold on the pictures hanging on the wall. The floor is incredibly soft in places, which is a sign of rot. I understand that relocating people(especially on a weekend) is incredibly challenging and/or impossible, however, there was no sense of urgency, empathy, or understanding in how serious this matter affected us. We have felt horrible this whole trip, which is so disappointing. Staying here was not our choice. No one has followed up with us since checking in. No one has called to see if we are feeling okay or if there is anything that could help us feel more comfortable. I am sad to say we will not rent through vacasa again. If you do not have allergies you will not understand the seriousness of this problem. However, if you do have allergies, do not stay here.
