We had an amazing 2 weeks living at Lydia House! There are very few properties in Oia that compare to the location, setting and comfort of this house. My wife and I have visited Oia before, and wanted to bring our 5 children to experience the magic of this incredible island and town. Living in an authentic cave house made the visit so special. But the best part of our stay was our host, Manos and his associate Kiki, who made the whole experience personal and unique.
The house has plenty of room, is very well equipped and has a modern design aesthetic that blends with the 300 year old cave so well. Manos is an accomplished architect, and his mastery of lighting and space is apparent as you hang out in Lydia House. We appreciated the dipping pool after a day of exploring. The beds are all extremely comfortable. The outdoor spaces were our favorite. The roof deck offers a front row seat to the magnificent Caldera - we enjoyed many sunrises and sunsets from here! The dining table on the terrace in front of the house has equally as amazing views... Lighting candles, preparing a simple Greek salad, and eating fresh baked bread from the bakery was a favorite evening activity of ours, when we weren't eating at one of the many fantastic restaurants steps away.
Being at the end of the old section of Oia, just a few steps away from the fort that serves as one of the most famous sunset vistas in the world, is an ideal location. The house is tucked just under the main walking street, so it is peaceful, quiet and serene... but just a few steps away from the best part of the village.
Do yourself a favor and book this house!! Thank you SO MUCH Manos for such greta memories of Oia and Greece!
