Period Townhouse | Ipswich Waterfront & Centre
A beautifully renovated period townhouse just a short walk from the historic Ipswich Waterfront - one of Suffolk's most vibrant urban destinations. Spread across three floors with stylish interiors, free on-site parking and fast WiFi, it's an excellent base for exploring the town, the waterfront bars and restaurants, and the wider Suffolk coast. Dog-friendly. Managed by SIB Properties.
We are available via Airbnb/messages should you have any questions.
Escala House is located just a 5 minute walk from the bustling Ipswich Waterfront.
From early Saxon settlers and Viking invasions, to global maritime trade and luxury yacht building; the Waterfront has been the at the heart of Ipswich’s transformations over the town’s 1,500 year history.
Today, the Ipswich Waterfront is one of the most recognisable areas of the town, popular for the many bars, cafes and bistros perched along the waters edge, and with views over the marinas. Festivals and events are held along Waterfront throughout the year including Ipswich Maritime Festival in the summer and biennial festivals SPILL and PhotoEast.
The Waterfront is also home to DanceEast (a national centre for dance), the University of Suffolk’s Ipswich Campus, the Suffolk Archives’ new, cutting-edge visitor centre The Hold and two river trip operators: Orwell Lady and Sailing Barge Victor.
The whole house will be yours to enjoy!
Ipswich Waterfront has been at the heart of this city for 1,500 years - from Saxon settlers and Viking trade routes to the marinas, bars and bistros that line its edge today. Escala House puts you a short walk from all of it.
This is a renovated period townhouse that takes its character seriously. Three floors of well-proportioned rooms, thoughtfully furnished and finished to a high standard - the kind of place that feels genuinely comfortable rather than just functional. Light interiors, warm tones and considered details make it easy to settle in whether you're here for a weekend or longer.
The living space is open plan, unusual for a townhouse, with room to properly unwind after a day out. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking together, and the dedicated workspace makes it equally well-suited to those combining work with a change of scenery. A king bedroom and a double, plus sofa beds, give the layout real flexibility for different groups.
One thing worth knowing: the house features a characterful open spiral staircase that is part of what makes it special, but it does mean it's best suited to guests aged 12 and over. Dogs are very welcome and have full run of the ground floor.
Five minutes on foot takes you to the Ipswich Waterfront - the marinas, the riverside bars and cafés, the University of Suffolk campus, and year-round events including the Ipswich Maritime Festival. The town centre is equally close for independent shops and restaurants. Free on-site parking makes this one of the better-value central Ipswich options for anyone driving in.
The Suffolk coast, Dedham Vale and the Shotley Peninsula are all within easy reach for day trips.
Managed by SIB Properties, a specialist short-let management company covering Essex and Suffolk.
