The proximity of this home to the lake and the views are beautiful. The home has a couple of great porches - one with a great swing to look out over the lake. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy any outdoor time around the house while here. When we arrived, my daughter noted a foul odor as we were unpacking and I chalked it up to smells that sometimes arise outdoors; however, the smell became worse that day and the next and then we noticed an area of the grass that had become discolored. There was either a septic tank failure or leak of some sort. Every walk to and from the lake required a walk past the septic tank area and being out on the back or side porches was very unpleasant. It prevented us from having dinners outside and being able to sit around the firepit. Unfortunately, the last two days we were at the lake were rainy so we weren’t on the lake. Because the stench was very strong by then, we were not able to enjoy any time on the porch - listening to the rain, playing cards and games, or on the porch swing, but were stuck in the house.
I reached out to the property management who immediately communicated to the owner, but ultimately no repairs were done until after we had left. After almost 2 weeks of communication after our departure, the property management indicated they had been authorized to give our family $25 to compensate for the issue. While I recognize that sometimes things like this do happen, a $25 gift card for the impact on our single family vacation was more insulting than I think simply ignoring our communication, which the owners essentially did for a week and a half anyhow.
Aside from those issues, the home is bigger than it appears on the site. The lower level has 2 distinct bedrooms alone and 5 twin beds plus a queen. The main level has a master that can sleep 2 and the loft has two beds (one futon, I think) that could sleep 3-4. Unfortunately none of us (7 – kids and adults alike) could find a comfortable bed in the mix!
The view from the home and proximity to the lake is fantastic. The newer paved driveway is short and steep with an angle - difficult to maneuver with a boat, but we were able to use the older (non-paved) access path when we had the boat in tow.
The home is well equipped and the boat launch is just a few minutes down the same street – couldn’t be more convenient! We did appreciate the easy dock access – good path and steps, and was surprised to see a canoe at the dock.
