Thank you for taking the time to pass this information along. We do not have any requests or inquiries regarding a service animal for any reservation taken in Shorewood 501 for 2024. Most of the condominium complexes on Hilton Head (including Shorewood) do not permit pets. In the case of Shorewood - not even owners can have pets. So if you see a pet at Shorewood it is most likely a "Service Animal" and should be only with the person that it provides service for. If that person goes to the beach - the service animal goes to the beach. If that person goes out to eat - the service animal goes out to eat. A true Service Animal is never left alone in the property when everyone else in the group is out & about. A service animal should not be confused with an "Emotional Support" animal. We get much more "Emotional Support" animal requests than we do "Service Animal" requests. Service Animals are backed by the ADA (America with Disabilities Act) and owners of these animals have paperwork with certification to that effect. Emotional Support animals are not considered "Service Animals" by the ADA. Thus no certification from ADA. As a result, we (Seashore Vacations) do not accept Emotional Support animals unless we have permission from the owner of the property as well as the Homeowner's Association. Especially in complexes that do not even allow their owners to bring pets.

We appreciate your time and response to your stay in Shorewood. Shorewood 501 has hardwood floors in the kitchen, den and dining areas with recently replaced berber in the bedrooms. While rental units do get a lot of wear and tear, and there may be some stains on the carpet, our inspector reviewed the unit again post-stay and did not concur with this guest's findings, but regardless, we have had carpet cleaners in the unit after this stay. An attempt to address the bed frame issue was made on Saturday; however, Seashore Vacations was denied access until two days later, where the issue was fixed. Without guest approved access to the unit, we are hamstrung on any fixes requested. Upon departure we had the owner of the company review the unit to make sure no further issues would result, and we could not locate any upholstery issues that were not a result of normal wear and tear. We at Seashore Vacations will be happy to meet and exceed your expectations and resend cleaning units and repair technicians as quickly as possible, but access to review any issues must be allowed. Since your stay, we have had glowing reviews on this unit. We apologize that we do not see eye-to-eye on this unit, but would welcome the chance to have you back. Have a great summer.

We are truly sorry that your stay was affected by this last minute roofing project. While we were aware that the roof suffered some damage from a January storm - we had no idea it was going to take place during the week of Memorial Day. Under normal circumstances work of this nature is not permitted during the peak rental season which is Memorial Day thru Labor Day. However, we received notice on 5/18/25 (Saturday) that a roof repair was going to take place starting Monday (5/20) and ending on Friday (5/24) with some "minor" inconvenience to guests that week including limited parking in front of the building due to equipment, some trailers and a dumpster. On Tuesday (5/28) we received an update from the Shorewood Homeowner's Association that the roof "Repair" had changed from a roof repair into a full blown roof replacement as they discovered more damage than expected. No work took place on the Sunday and Monday of the Holiday Weekend (5/26 and 5/27) and now we are 3 days into the week of Memorial Day and are just now finding out about the work extension after the fact. Of course all of the renters in this building were understandably upset. Obviously, the communication regarding this project was poor and not handled very well. Furthermore, it is impossible to give advance notice 3 days later. We were able to give notice to all of the renters in the building for the week of 6/1/24-6/8/24 but that is of little consolation to the guests during the week of 5/25/24 to 6/1/24. Unfortunately, we in the vacation rental business are often in the unenviable position of absorbing responsibility for things we have no control over. This last minute roof project falls into that category and I am really sorry this guest was impacted so negatively because of it.
