Let's start with the great: this cottage was perfect in terms of space for our large family of adults, children, infants and dogs. There were enough bedrooms, the cottage and guest cottage combo provided a lot of room for relaxation, and the beautiful Balsam lakefront was fabulous for swimming, playing and hanging out. The check in was easy, the property management team was very responsive and accommodating, and the two hour drive from Toronto made it feel easy. Now for areas of improvement: this cottage does require a deep clean. We found piles of small, dead bugs in window sills, spider webs & eggs in the ceiling and lots of Canada Goose poop on the lawn and dock area. The cottage is not well maintained with essentials. There are no lake / swimming towels, no sheets on the twin beds, no cooking oil, no bbq tools, no serving platters, no shower soap or shampoo, nothing stocked in the guest cottage etc. Finally, the cottage requires some minor repairs and maintenance. The guest cottage fridge makes a very loud, screaming noise at random times during the day and we found some of the dock boards had nails sticking out.The location, property size and lakefront is wonderful but for the extravagant price point charged (including AC & linen fees!), there is definitely room for improvement.
