We are glad to hear our teams resolved your early-in-the-week issues in a timely fashion, Melissa. We trust you and your family went on to have a wonderful time in your Hatteras Island vacation home. Of course, we were dismayed to hear our response was not as timely regarding your Friday messages. Please know that, despite an extremely challenging labor shortage during an era of historic demand, our hard-working reservationists have been staying late every night for the entire season to return every message we receive when our call volumes occasionally exceed our ability to answer every one (as we have generally done with great success for our 42 years in business). We are working hard to recruit more help from outside the area, but we appreciate any patience you can grant us as we work toward these goals. For folks considering this amazing home for an upcoming vacation, please know that the pest issue in that single bedroom was of no fault of our housekeeping teams, or of the owners of this home or of the teams that maintain it. This kind of issue is very rare, but it is a known risk in every overnight hospitality business. Please also know that the entire home has received an intensive protocol to rid the property of this issue including multiple rounds of inspections to confirm and insure that there are no bugs present. The owner even took the extra step to initiate an ongoing preventative treatment schedule with a professional provider that is considered well above and beyond what is needed. Following the stay, the leaseholder was also compensated for this inconvenience. On behalf of everyone who cares for this home, we hope Melissa will consider amending her review, as this home provides a wonderful experience, with all of the desirable extras (like a wet bar, game room, cargo lift, and much, much more), and this single review should not deter any family from enjoying it.
