The house and property are gorgeous. The climb down the rope ladder to the beach is rather challenging and scary but the brave ones among us made it and it was worth the effort! Everyone in our retreat group of 15 loved the house. The main floor layout was perfect for our meals and indoor group gatherings- the island in the kitchen works very well for several people cooking together and serving themselves. The big dining room table was welcoming and lovely. Our only regret was that we did not have more free time to relax in and around the house. The bluff and the decks leading to the lake are very inviting and one instantly feels relaxed and enthralled by the beauty of the sand dunes and plants, sky and water.
Here's where improvements could be made: better communication before our stay would have been helpful. Check in instructions arrived the day before, with a different, much earlier check in time- but it was too late to change our plans to take advantage of the opportunity. Written directions to the property were not clear enough - it's very hard for first-time visitors to find the turnoff onto the unpaved road (which doesn't have a sign) from Michigan Ave. The bath towel situation is unacceptably skimpy- there are not nearly enough, and they are too small and thin. There were no kitchen towels, sponges, scrub pads or pot holders. In our pre-trip communication we stated we would be using two sleeper couches, but there were no sheets or blankets or pillows for them once we arrived. Bathrooms lacked towel racks and hooks. There wasn't enough toilet paper, kleenex, shampoo or soap. More coffee mugs were needed. These are basic details that would be easy to take care of once and for all, and would meet expectations one would have for such a gorgeous house. We considered these minor annoyances, and the manager responded promptly to our needs.
Overall we LOVED our stay and would gladly return.
