I’ve been fortunate to call Muskoka home my entire life, spending summers at this very spot since childhood. In 2018, I built a year-round lake house so I could experience Muskoka in every season—a decision that has been nothing short of incredible. What began as a summer tradition has grown into a true four-season adventure.

Before moving here full time, I lived and worked in Toronto, building a 40-year career in the service industry. I’ve always loved meeting people, sharing stories, and creating memorable experiences. For over 40 years, I even had the honor of serving as M.C. for the Royal Muskoka Island picnic. Those moments shaped the way I host today—with warmth, energy, and genuine hospitality.

Muskoka has given me so much over the years: peaceful mornings fishing on the lake, the vibrant colors of autumn, thrilling snowmobile rides through winter trails, and countless summer adventures. Each season brings something new to discover, and that’s what makes this place so extraordinary.

Opening our vacation rental has been another wonderful chapter. It allows me to welcome new people into my life—many of whom have become friends—and to share the beauty, relaxation, and excitement of Muskoka. Helping guests experience the region the way locals do is both a joy and a privilege.

Lake Rosseau connects to the beautiful Lake Joseph via the Joe River and to Lake Muskoka through the Port Carling locks and Muskoka River. Together, these “Big Three Lakes” form the heart of Muskoka and offer some of the best freshwater boating in the world. Here, crystal-clear waters wind past iconic rock cliffs, towering pines, countless islands, and picture-perfect scenery. Charming towns, hotels, shops, and restaurants are all accessible by water, making each outing a new adventure. Royal Muskoka Island

Our home is tucked at the end of a peaceful peninsula on prestigious Royal Muskoka Island, with convenient car access via bridge. This exclusive community is warm, welcoming, and offers a true sense of belonging. At its heart lies a shared 32-acre green space, featuring walking trails, a basketball half-court, baseball backstop, soccer field, shuffleboard, gazebo, picnic tables, BBQs, and more. The annual Island Picnic on the August long weekend brings neighbors together with food, games, and laughter—a tradition that has created lifelong memories for generations.

The island’s quiet charm is unmatched: only 40 cottages line the road, with a 20 km speed limit ensuring peace and safety. Our property is uniquely special—flat, level, and southwest-facing for all-day sun. A half-moon–shaped rock point offers panoramic views stretching for miles, while the sheltered bay protects from waves, boat traffic, and cold north winds.

A Truly Unique Muskoka Retreat

At the heart of the home is a stunning stone fireplace, built from stones salvaged from the historic Royal Muskoka Hotel’s grand fireplace—just 200 yards down the road—after the hotel’s tragic fire. This piece of history gives the cottage a one-of-a-kind character you won’t find anywhere else.

The property itself is equally rare. Two side-by-side, flat and level lots provide exceptional space and flexibility—perfect for family gatherings or future expansion. Facing southwest, the property enjoys all-day sunshine, while a beautiful half-moon–shaped rock point offers unobstructed, water-level views that stretch for miles.

Natural protection adds to the appeal: a gentle hill across the road shields the cottage from cold north winds, and the large sheltered bay ensures calm waters, safe from heavy boat traffic, waves, and prevailing westerly winds.

Nestled near the end of a quiet, dead-end road, with only a handful of neighbors, the atmosphere is peaceful and private—yet part of a warm and welcoming island community accessible by car.
