Frustrating and disappointing stay
The house had a lot of bedrooms and space for my whole family, which is why we booked it. The location was conveniently located.
The house smelled like smoke during our entire 4 night stay. On day 2, a woman emerged from the basement, shocking and surprising my family that was outside playing in the yard. She did not introduce herself, just drove away. I contacted the host to ask if someone lived on site and she lied and said that it’s the house manager who came out of her office. I messaged the “house manager” who said she lived in the basement apartment but wouldn’t get in our way. She stayed in the apartment for 3 out of 4 nights but never introduced herself to us in person.
It was clear that she smoked in the basement, as the smoke traveled up through the bathroom vents. The house manager living on site was not the problem - the secrecy of it and lack of communication was.
The house wasn’t cleaned satisfactorily and the host was terribly unresponsive. Disappointing and frustrating.
