Rosaria and Franco were very kind and courteous hosts, starting right off with the presentation of fresh eggs from their chickens. The property was spacious, immaculately clean, and located in a very rural part of Italy. The queen bed was comfortable (although the sofa was less so).
The Pros: The accommodations were private and the hosts were discreet. Kitchen supplies were adequate. The tap water is not potable, but the hosts provided copious amounts of fresh water in jugs. The road traffic in this part of Italy is light, so we felt comfortable borrowing the hosts' bicycles to explore the adjoining countryside, which we enjoyed. The location is convenient to Alberobello, Lecce, and local beaches. You will also enjoy the nearby town of Caravigno, where we had one of the best dinners of our 3-week stay in Italy at La Cantina.
The Cons: Despite screens everywhere and devices to kill or discourage mosquitoes ("zanzare"), they made their presence known in the bedroom in the still of the night, and my wife had multiple bites to show for it. Luckily, we had brought Benedryl cream to alleviate the itch. If you don't speak Italian or German, you will find communication a bit challenging, but a concerted effort with Google Translate can go a long way toward effecting communication. The cleaning fee ("pulizia") is much higher than other HomeAways we stayed at in Italy, but the per-day charge is reasonable.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at this property.
