The penthouse at the Stardust Lodge was exactly what we needed. No where else in the area was I able to find a place with two king size beds and air conditioning. The penthouse provided both. The rooms were exactly as pictured in the ad. They were clean and well appointed.
The beds were very comfortable, the outside deck was where we spent most of our time. The rug there was quite worn, but we learned that it was soon to be replaced. The private hot tub was wonderful.
The location can not be beat. We walked everywhere. Hiking trails are within a mile or so. The grocery store is right up the road and there are tons of restaurants within walking distance. The casinos are very close as well.
The penthouse is set in an older motel style resort. It seems that most, if not all, of the units are timeshares which are rented out. Since there are kitchenettes in all of the units, there were lots of families. There was a continental breakfast every day. This mostly consisted of donuts, some fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal and coffee. Not amazing, but enough to start the day.
The staff at the lodge was helpful and although we didn't interact with them much, they seemed pleasant enough when we did.
Brian, the owner of the penthouse was attentive and answered my emails in a timely manner.
I would absolutely suggest that if you are staying in Lake Tahoe and need the space, staying here would satisfy all of your needs.
I really felt that we had the best of both worlds. We had our own private space, yet we were part of a resort with many other amenities.
Don't hesitate to stay here, you won't regret it!
