The beach was a very short walk from house. Communication from night before, was to text them if we were arriving early, & they would accomodate for us. (Knowing we were driving 16 hrs w/2 small children) so i text them to let them.know we would b arriving 3 hours early. Immediately text back and said they would.make it priority. Waited all the way till 4:10 pm (10.min after checkin time) go to the gate. The guy had NO clue we were arriving, had to give him printed out paper w/res. #,etc) let us in, and found a maint. Van in driveway, & still in the house (supposedly changing light bulbs-what we were told) (also note- there were batteries and lightbulbs in drawer) walk in bottom floor, & the dog smell was over whelming. We discovered pool wasn't heated, so we thought we would put kids in jet tub, only to find out jets did not work. (Text them, & somehow they had already known that) it also rained over night thurs/fri, the tile on outside steps, & patio r extremely slippery. (Should of used outdoor tile for them. Please be careful. over all the house was perfect.soo, beautiful, & close to soo much stuff to do. Destin is my new favorite beach.

I am going to be as fair and honest with PROS & CONS in our review of this "Life's A Beach," Destin FL property - and I hope future guests are made aware of things so they don't have to suffer the same experience we had to from February 12 - 28, 2026. Cons: this was an ACTIVE construction site approx 6' from property, our 2 weeks vacation started every day at 8:00 am with construction workers/noise, have many pictures and video of what we endured for two weeks, lots of broken things within the property, safety concerns (just a few things for starters: #1 front door automatic lock did not work, #2 window(s) not shutting/locking properly (letting critters in or potential thief/harm), #3 shower in main floor bedroom did not have privacy film on window so new owners of house can easily look down in shower, and, on one day I took pic of construction worker right outside the shower window before I was going to use the shower (did not feel safe using shower obviously) and #4 the front door was out of alignment causing noticeable gaps around the door casing on top and bottom of door. And to reiterate, the construction noise was CONSTANT. There was no relaxation physically, mentally or emotionally within the property, nor sitting outside on the two balconies. Live the Gulf Coast was notified and sent pics/videos of everything we noticed within the property during our stay.Contract stated "....Live the Gulf Coast cannot predict construction plans with

Loved the neighborhood - was perfect for a family getaway with grandparents and 3 teenagers! Easy walk to the beach! The only areas for improvement I would note is the house could use a refresh on the paint and the kitchen could use some additional silverware to better be able to accomodate the number of people the house fits. Construction noise from new roof being put on across the street was disruptive but didn't ruin the trip - it just made sure we are all up early to enjoy the beach.

Great in Destiny by the Sea

I would recommend this house for a couple of families as it is spacious, well located and good value. Only negative is the lower staircase leading to basement needs rug cleaning as it seems to have some dog smells. Great place.

Lovely week

The house was in a wonderful location. The layout was great for two families. The furniture is worn down and it could use come basic updates. The lower level has a mildew smell. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would come back to this neighborhood again.

Fall Break Destin

Great property with plenty of room for our 8 guests. Home was clean and check-in was very easy. Great location for the Destin area. We loved the private beach access and enjoyed the great sunsets there. Only complaint was the community pool was not heated. It was clearly stated that was the case, but given that many homes in the community participate in vacation rentals, consideration should be made so you can enjoy all areas of the property.

Check in process was seamless and communication through out our stay was top notch. Kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need and refrigerator water and ice dispenser we’re in good working condition (at the beach this is very important). Furniture in this unit is high quality. Cleanliness was than ideal and the lower level was musty. that is the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.

love this place!

we went to Destin for a family reunion. We were 11 adults and one dog. We had so much fun! The house was more than we expect! The location of it was 3 min walking to the beach. It also had bikes that we used them to go around the neighborhood. The communication with property manager was excellent! My cousin left her wallet at the house the day of the check out and they helped her to find it and also to send it to Dallas, Tx where she lives. Thank you! We highly recommended it

Fantastic Location

The location of the property was fantastic! There is private beach access just a block away. Secure and gated community with one heated pool and Jacuzzi tub. The only negative comment is the check out time, which was nine and the check-in time wasn’t until six, though I understand there are more thorough cleaning procedures going on because of Covid. Fortunately we were able to get in prior to 6 PM but that is a very early check out and late check-in time. In addition the “guest preparation fee“ which is the basically the cleaning fee, was almost $700. That is extremely high compared to other properties in the area I inquired, but I would still definitely rent again.

Good location, needs some better cleaning

We loved the location and house and Ron was very nice who greeted us upon arrival. It was stocked well with plenty of towels and kitchen utensils. Just a couple of suggestions for the cleaning crew... it would be great if they steam mopped the floors as they were really dirty as seen on everyone’s socks. Under the master bedroom bed/ nightstands was really dirty and dusty. The mold in the vents (stairwell) and mold in the shower floor corners could be easily steamed and bleached away and possibly re-caulked.

Nice house but needs updating

We had issues with check in time which was late (6pm), however the property was not ready until 7.30pm because an issue withe cleaners. We found the house quite dirty. Dirty floors, carpet, room furniture, sheets, kitchen utensils etc. Very disappointing having to clean ourselves after a long car trip but contacted the property manager and they responded right away. House needs to be thoroughly clean and needs updates. Furniture is very worn out and dirty

Great location - Private beach access was amazing!

The location of this property really can't be beat. With private beach access, it really made the trip incredibly enjoyable. Especially after we saw how crowded the public beaches were. The facility itself could use some TLC, thoughtful items for visitors and an extremely well done deep clean. We had an infant with us that could not walk and the floors in the home were caked with grime and leftover furballs from previous tenants and the upstairs bathroom smelled like no one had found the actual toilet for use. These are only a couple of many items we were taken back by in regards to cleanliness. We addressed the cleanliness with the management post-stay and hope they follow through with a thorough inspection of future cleans. The property was "ready" on time, checking in and out was incredibly easy, and we thoroughly enjoyed the beach being so close.

Not great but okay. Not the value for the money

Property needs upgrades. Floors and furnishings were not clean. I am not sure if cleaners did not show up or what. Kitchen utensils, pans and pots are in poor condition, need replacement. Too many broken handles, malfunctioning appliances etc to even report. Most of them worked but barely. Overall it is an okay property not worth the price.

Excellent gated community. Miss information per phone call. Get your questions answered in writing.

Great neighborhood. Very well kept gated community. Living area and dinning area very small. Make sure all of your questions prior to paying are answered in writing. Things that were wrong with the property were not addressed during the stay. Excuse was hard to get things scheduled during peak season. No one on site to talk with personally except security at gate and not always friendly. I could list a lot of negative things however my family and I (11) total did make the house work and enjoyed the time together. Neighborhood was very well maintained just lots of miscommunication on phone call prior to booking.

Wonderful property and customer service

My wife and I stayed at Life's a Beach for twelve nights with our two dogs, plus a couple of friends joined us for a few days. We love Destiny-by-the-Sea and have rented homes there on several occasions. We really enjoyed this particular property, and hope to stay here again in the future. The top floor master bedroom was spacious and luxurious, with a quiet balcony and elegant desk that came in handy for some unavoidable telework commitments. The bottom floor includes a 2-car garage, queen bedroom, and kids' bunk room with gaming chairs, and a Jack & Jill bathroom. The middle floor has a queen bedroom, full bathroom, powder room, large living area, dining area, kitchen with counter and stools, and a very large balcony with a gas grill. Tons of space that our small party hardly took advantage of! The house was very clean and well-stocked with towels and other items, and all of the appliances and thermostats worked great. We enjoyed the short stroll back and forth to the beach several times a day. We had some special requests that were accommodated by the owner and management company, and we received excellent customer service. I honestly can't think of anything that would have made our stay more enjoyable, it was really a perfect twelve days at Life's a Beach!

I wouldn’t recommend this property.

I was very disappointed in this property. We knew we had a late check in (6pm) but what I didn’t know was you can’t even get in the neighborhood to use the pool or go to the beach before your check in. Check in at 6 pm and check out is 9 am so you are losing a full day. The condition of the house once we checked in was terrible. Three beds had dirty sheets (body hair and clearly not laundered), sand was throughout the house and in all showers. Hair in bathroom drawers and dresser drawers. Dishes were dirty and so were the pots and pans. The grill was dirty and rusty, recycling had not been emptied in the kitchen. Fire detectors started chirping also during our stay and the alarm panel chirped our whole stay. Ice maker on the refrigerator worked about every other day or so. The property manager will get back to you in a timely manner. They offered to send the cleaners back but we had already cleaned everything ourselves. After calling them with issues for the first 2 days we just decided to deal with everything else. We had friends staying in other houses in the neighborhood and they had zero issues. You can definitely find a nicer house for the same price in the same neighborhood. I would recommend getting a different house in this neighborhood.

While we aim to ensure every home is clean and guest-ready, we regret that you found some areas not up to standard. The concerns about the sheets and floors were reported the day after check-in, and we sincerely wish photos had been provided to help us fully investigate, as we take these matters seriously. Still, we did offer to send our cleaning team back immediately, but understand you had already taken care of it yourselves. We’ve since addressed your comments with our team, including the issues related to housekeeping and maintenance such as the smoke detectors and alarm panel, which have now been resolved to help prevent future disruptions. We also understand the frustration regarding limited access to the community amenities prior to check-in. These policies are set by the HOA and are unfortunately beyond our control, but we do apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. Again, we truly regret that your visit did not reflect the standard we aim to provide and appreciate the opportunity to respond and improve.

Dog friendly property - short walk to private beach that could use a deep clean & some updates

What we loved about this property: that is was dog friendly, in a gated community, close walk to the beach, top floor suite couldn’t hear activity on 1st & 2nd floors. There were 5 bikes, scooter, some beach chairs and wagons in the garage. What we thought could use improvement: The property could benefit from a deep cleaning, communication-too many different people, Property Management to manage the property better - inspecting property after cleaning to make sure property is ready for next guest - are pool wrist bands, garage remote there? Are dishes clean and enough per occupancy? Do sinks drain, do light bulbs need to be replaced. We checked in on Sat and didn’t get pool wristbands until Monday afternoon - apparently previous guest took. The 1st floor side entrance light wasn’t working - the entrance has no railing and it is a hazard in the dark - someone could fall. We were unable to change the bulb ourselves as we needed a tool to remove the globe over the bulb - no tools at the home - repeatedly asked for it to be fixed while there but wasn’t. Will email more details of things we noticed or experienced.

Long but worth the read

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Life’s a Beach. The beach is only about a couple minute walk, the neighborhood felt safe, and the staff at the gate were very kind. The pool is very nice and clean. Don’t forget your bracelets, some people did and it’s really an inconvenience for the staff to have to be rude because you didn’t follow the rules. Now, for the negative and hopefully constructive feedback. When we arrived: the house was not clean. It was certainly not clean enough to justify a huge cleaning charge like we had. There is dust under and behind all the furniture. There was a load of clothes in the dryer that we had to take care of. The floors had not been swept and mopped. The microwave doesn’t work. The refrigerator and stove didn’t work. The grill was gross and there were dirty tools left. There are no cleaning supplies. I reached out to the management company. They informed me it would be within 48 hours and I told them that wasn’t acceptable due to us having 9 of us and we have to be able to cook. They sent their maintenance team and brought a new grill. They were able to get the stove to work. The microwave is now on order. The ice machine has to be started when you get there by clicking the arm down. The carpets are in a desperate need of someone to take the time to clean them. Furniture is worn but that’s to be expected in a rental These things were inconvenient but we made the best of it. Not worth the amount of money we spent on the cleaning for sure.
