Review of The Sands Week of July 19th-July 26th

We enjoyed out vacation rental. It was well equipped. A few criticisms however were that the grass should have been cut. We had 2 dogs with us and at times difficult to pick up after them due to length of grass and made the yard unattractive. Also work needed to be done to the coupling around the skimmer. The fan on the first floor needs to be addressed. it was very noisy and could be heard in some of the 2nd floor bedrooms. Also the lights on the caps around the pool need new batteries. Only one light was functioning. These criticisms are not meant to take away from the quality of the house. It was nicely decorated. Also the elevator made bringing our supplies in very easy and as some guests were senior citizens it made life much easier for them.

Yearly Vacation

This house was comfortable and surprisingly not stinky due to being a pet friendly home. There are some stains on the carpet from inattentive pet owners. This house has everything you'll need to make meals and having all the games was a plus. The beach is at the end of the block and the town is close so having a bicycle is essential. I wish the light switches were labeled since there are so many but we managed. The elevator was great to have. The pool area needs some attention as there are weeds over growing, the neighbors trees encroach over the fence and the one tree by the pool needs to be trimmed so more sunlight can hit the pool. Even though it is situated next to Route 12, the traffic noise was not bad. Not related to the house but just a common knowledge tidbit for beach goers, don't park your chairs, tents etc at the entrance to the beach. That is inconsiderate and just rude. Also, checkout time was very early, maybe add an hour and make it 10am. That would help with teenagers that like to sleep in! Overall, great house, clean and comfortable.

Nice Home

Home was nice with a pvt bathroom for all. Management very responsive to an issue with a box spring. The only negative of the week was the initial ride up beach road to Duck which took nearly an hour and 30 to travel 4 miles.

Awesome home

Home was spacious and had it all- fully stocked game room, volley ball court, pool and hot tub, fenced in yard , lots of decking , kitchen supplies to handle a crowd, beach at the end of the street, plenty of parking, pet friendly, puzzles and games for a rainy day- six bedrooms and seven bathrooms , fireplace for cold weather stays- we really enjoyed our stay

Duck - The Sands

I am giving two stars for several reasons. First the 3rd floor bathroom has a leak and the second floor bedroom has a massive hole where water leaks through. Potential mold issue. Next, second floor bathtub fills up with water when showering as the drain is very slow/partially clogged. Water builds up to about ankle level after about 3-5mins of showering. Also, all the box springs are super squeaky, which leads to waking up every night if you switch positions. Further, the one side of the pool is sinking and the side walk around the pool is very steep leading to a tripping hazard especially with small children and handicapped guests. The grill flamed up on us upon arrival, but someone came out to remediate the next day which was nice but left us improvising for dinner the first night. Finally, the location being on the side of the main hwy lead to a high level of noise. For the price I felt overall the house was very dated and needed some immediate updates before I would consider staying again.

Great location, great house and a great yard for the pets!

We started off a bit slow with some issues but they were quickly taken care of. Don't remember microwave installer but quick, efficient and respectful. Patrick did a great job with the two things he needed to fix. Could use him around my house! House is within walking distance to so many things including Duck Donuts!! Yard is huge and my two dogs loved running around in it. We were there during Hurricanes Sally and Teddy and a nor'easter but there was plenty to do inside and away from the house. Pool was nice and plenty of parking. Did I mention the kitchen had anything you could need? One of my favorite parts of this house was the decorations. The boats were wonderful! Third year for us to enjoy this house.

Great location and Conveniences

It is a great home with elevator, pool, fenced yard but is starting to show its age. We have rented this home for 15 years and it has steadily declined. Just not as clean as it was, small things broken everywhere, rust on all of the register covers with water leaking from them in the ceilings. Shoreline Preferred is EXTREMELY responsive to issues that need repaired though. They are super to work with.

The Sands

We had a great week at The Sands. The house is laid out out well and has all of the toys one would want to keep everyone entertained. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary. The pool was a great relief, but could use a little TLC. Location to town is great and makes for a great walk.

EXCELLENT

This house could not of been more perfect for my family and dog! We had minor issues but they were there to address the situation as soon as I would call. This home had everything you need and you did NOT have to leave the house. The pool was the biggest hit for the kids, they never wanted to go to the beach!! I would recommend this property to anyone! FUN FOR ALL AGES!

Great OBX week

The Sands was as advertised. The location was perfect and the house was clean and ready for us. Grandkids made good use of the pool and we all enjoyed the hot tub (I think it is leaking tho). Thanks for a great vacation.

Family Vacation

We loved the location. We could walk into town and boardwalk along the bay easily. The beach was just at the end of the block. We had a few issues that were addressed quickly with both housekeeping and maintenance. Be aware that there is no ramp at the beach entrance. We rented a cart and beach gear, but couldn't roll it onto beach.

Family vacation plus 3 2023

We had a great time! Little kids loved the skew Val table , air hockey and pool! There were lots of pool floats for young and old… short walk to the beach . We did park a vehicle at the beach a day or 2- 5 spots available for use. Wonderful communication with management before we arrived and taking care of issues while we were staying there. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could want for cooking or baking! Our group ate in every night and plenty of dishes and utensils for all 12 of us. We had nice hot summer weather and ocean temperatures just right!

Excellent property, everything worked, all games were great! A great property for families! Pool and elevator especially nice. Communication with management was timely and straightforward. Rental beach equipment was perfect. Hated to leave!

Location location location

This property was in walking distance of so many things. The hot tub was great and the elevator proved so useful to my friend who needs a knee replacement. Great deck privacy from the main bedrooms. We would rent again

Awesome house for active family !

Great house and location! Thankful for the fenced in backyard since it is right off the main road but that would honestly be my only complaint. overall it had everything we could’ve asked for clean and a fun spot for a family with young kids for sure!

Duck rental

The property had all the amenities listed online. Everything was in working condition. There were a few things that could’ve been improved. There were a few areas of what appeared to be water damage in the bedrooms on the second floor. The outdoor area was covered in spider webs, called leaves and lots of bugs. The pool liner was extremely worn and had a hole in it when we arrived. The Maintainence man did fix it a few days after arriving. The location was great, walkable distance to the beach. Had plenty of things to do within the home. The listing did mention that we needed to bring several things that were already at the house such as bath mats, soaps, crock pot, etc. Overall it fit our needs well and everything worked without any problems.

Perfect for Our Family

My husband & I rented this house along with our two daughters (ages 21 & 23) & our dog. The house was perfect for us. There were plenty of bedrooms & bathrooms & lots of great seating throughout the house. The game room was so much fun, especially the pool table. We also loved the fenced-in yard for our dog, as well as the hot tub. We really enjoyed being close enough to town that we could walk there whenever we wanted coffee or something to eat. And of course the beach being a 5-minute walk from the house was particularly nice. Oh, & how could I forget? Having the elevator was beyond convenient. It was SO nice not to have to lug all of our belongings & groceries up flights of stairs. For those considering staying here, I can assure you that this is a great rental. We rent all the time & this house is really well appointed. We especially enjoyed having coffee at Duck’s Cottage & Treehouse Coffee. And our best meals were lunch from Eventide & dinner from The Black Pelican. Honestly, we can’t wait to come back!

the home was large however, we don't think it was clean enough so we went over all bathroom sinks and toilets! The beds were terrible! One of the guests couldn't sleep on her bed it was so hard and she slept on the living room couch, so everybody had to walk on eggshells not turning on lights to even get coffee made
