Beautiful cottage, very clean. Well equipped, and has everything that you would need to entertain a multi-generational family. Food and clothing is all you need to bring! The lake is really nice. Great for swimming, weed free, and the water was warm. The hosts (Eric & Barb) were very responsive from the day we booked until the time we left. We really enjoyed our stay!

Incredible property on beautiful Lake Haliburton. Hosts Eric and Barb were communicative, accommodating, responsive and pleasant from the moment we booked to our eventual checkout/departure.The property is equipped with everything you could possibly think of: ensuites for every bedroom, huge living areas to spread out in, games, watercraft, fireplace/campfire areas, pool table, balconies, BBQ, horseshoes, pingpong, wine fridge...you name it and it's probably there!Great for large families with kids/adults of all ages. Easy walk down to the lake (no staircases needed from the cottage to the water). The lake is big enough to explore with a boat or a canoe, but small enough you aren't bombarded with traffic while you enjoy the Muskoka chairs on the dock.Amazing spot, we look forward to returning!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed an unforgettable week at the "Gottage." From relaxing on the dock and evenings around the firepit to friendly competitions at the pool table and ping pong table, there was something for everyone. The entertainment centre and wonderful collection of games kept us laughing long into the evenings. We especially appreciated how well-equipped the cottage is for families with young children. Having a crib, Diaper Genie, high chair, baby gates, toys galore and children's life jackets already available made travelling with little ones so much easier and allowed everyone to relax and enjoy their stay. The natural setting was simply spectacular. We were treated to visits from a mamma bear and her two very young cubs enjoying the berries nearby, along with chipmunks, loons, herrings, hummingbirds, wild turkeys and the soothing sounds of owls calling at night. It was a true Haliburton experience. The cottage itself is exceptionally well-appointed, thoughtfully equipped and has everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Quiet and private

The cottage was well suited to our large group. It was very private and quiet. It is well equipped with lots of beds and bathrooms. We loved the kitchen/living room area because everyone could hang out together during meal times. We brought a boat and Sea-Doo. The lake was large enough for water sports but small enough to not be busy.

Gottage is a Goer!

Everything about this property is wonderful; the view from the house onto the lake is stunning. All the beds were extremely comfortable with en-suite bathrooms and the kitchen had everything you could think of! We have made special summer memories swimming, paddle boarding (particularly the children) and enjoying evenings on the deck chatting and lapping up the atmosphere. Thank you!

Great Cottage

This property was perfect for our extended family of 12. It had everything we needed for a great week. We were all impressed by how exceptionally clean the cottage was when we arrived. There is a perfect lake for swimming: the water is deep enough to jump off the dock and the cottage is located on a quiet bay. There is also a large selection of board games and puzzles as well as two large screen TVs that we were able to watch our streaming services on. There were tables both inside and outside that comfortably fit the 12 of us for meals. We really enjoyed ourselves here and would definitely return again.

Impeccable

Talk about setting the bar high! Our three-family, multi-generational group had the most amazing week - highly recommended. All rooms were impeccably clean, spacious, and beautifully detailed with ample space to spread out or congregate at any time of day. The kitchen is very well appointed with high-end everything, bathrooms are aplenty, a games room that will keep any kid or kid-at-heart busy, and a huge deck for relaxing and dining. The fabulous dock easily accomodated our large group and 22ft pontoon. Communication with the hosts was a breeze as well. Barb & Eric, thank you for an unforgettable stay.

Exceptional property

My large extended family has been renting cottages for over a decade and this was by far our favourite property. The cottage is beautiful with plenty of room for a family of 14. The bedrooms are all large, beds very comfortable, kitchen extremely well equipped with plenty of cupboard and counter space and the great room is lovely with exceptional views of the lake. The dock is large and the water is clear and ideal for swimming. Lots of games and water toys made for a very fun week! We were sad to leave but look forward to next summer on Haliburton Lake. Thank you, Eric and Barb, for making this such a wonderful experience for all of us.

Exceptional Stay

We cannot say enough about our fabulous stay at The Gottage! The property offered everything we needed for an outstanding week. There were 9 of us in in total, including 2 toddlers. Satisfying 3 generations is never an easy task so we were very pleased to discover how well-equipped the cottage was and how much thought had gone into the lay-out and amenities. Even the weather cooperated; it was warm and sunny throughout the week which made swimming and kayaking all the more enjoyable. We were also pleased that the dock could easily accommodate the pontoon boat which we had rented from the local marina; It was our first experience with VRBO. We were very pleased - Barb and Eric were excellent hosts and a pleasure to deal with throughout. Many thanks for a great week. Mark, Liza and Family

Wonderful Cottage Getaway!

Our multi-generational family of 14 were very pleased by the quality and thoughtful inclusion of literally anything you could want in a getaway cottage!Quality furnishings throughout...Incredibly well-stocked kitchen: next time we won't need to bring as much of our favorite things because the hosts have provided it all!We appreciated the different gathering spaces both inside and out. Located on a large, clean, quiet lake, the long lakefront shore also provided extra privacy from neighboring properties.Plenty of plush bedding, fresh linens and extra clean towels (including beach towels!), soaps were included as well.Life jackets, mosquito jackets, BBQ, kayaks, SUPs, indoor games, outdoor games, fire pit, strollers, high chairs, crib, the inclusions go on and on. It's obviously a well-loved home to the hosts.Check-in was streamlined and efficient; communication with the host was excellent. We are definitely booking again next year!

Amazing place, bathrooms not finished

This was a remarkable place for a multi-generational family retreat. Very clean. We only wish that the owner told us ahead of check-in day that 2 of the ensuite bathrooms weren’t finished. One only had a toilet (no sink) and the other didn’t have a shower. It wasn’t a big deal in the end and there were plenty of other bathrooms and a shower on each floor but it was a disconnect with our expectations. Check-in was an hour long tour with the owner (promised as 15 minutes) going over a 4 page checklist including how to use the fridge and microwave. We would have preferred a self-serve set of instructions for reference.

Dear Glen, Thank you for your feedback. It has been a difficult search for vanities and tiles to complete the bathrooms last winter due to COVID 19 restrictions. All bathroom & tile stores were closed and these items could only be viewed online. When the stores did open (June 15) delivery was often 2 months or more. We reached out four times after your Nov 17, 2020, initial reservation to explain the gaps but did not get a single response (email Feb 7, 2021, email July 26, email July 29, and phone call July 31). Finally, we got a callback on Aug 3rd, two days before check-in. We were frustrated about the missing items but we could not connect with you to explain the incomplete tiling and the lack of one vanity. We have since installed the vanity (it arrived during your stay). The vrbo website listing does reflect the correct configuration of the 6 bathrooms. Also, the low rental rate you were charged was based on the gaps in the finishing. This is the first year we are allowing guests into our home. A renters guide is in the works and will be ready for the 2022 season. We acknowledge this is valuable and appreciate your feedback.

Incredible Place!! The best Ontario has to offer!

WOW! What a great experience. I have stayed in places all over Ontario and around the world, and while not the least expensive place, this was incredibly good value! Exceptional log house, beautifully appointed (it is obvious they used an interior decorator to furnish the place). The entire house was spotless, clean, impeccable! The 6 bathrooms were all finished in Italian ceramic tiles with glass showers beautifully installed. All rooms were very specious surrounded by natural wood and the bedrooms included all linens, towels and bedding which was a nice touch. Great attention to detail like freshly sharpened kitchen caring knives, two automatic dishwashers so we never ran out of clean glasses (imported French ceramics) puzzles and dozens of board games for those rainy days. We had such a great experience with my wife all our children plus their friends with lots of space to spare. It is hard to make everyone happy when you have a large age difference, but the cottage struck a perfect balance – we were even able to work remotely for a few days with the internet without any issue. The property is extremely quiet and private with a massive 600 foot waterfront and a huge acreage for exploring. We will definitely be back. The place is a bargain compared with smaller less well appointed cottages in Haliburton. This place is a find!

What a gorgeous mini resort! Everything that was in the description was exactly what we got plus more. We needed nothing but our personal essentials. The hosts were very easy to work with and very accommodating. The seclusion and privacy of this cottage was unparalleled. It was accommodating for all ages from babies all the way up to seniors. Both indoor and outdoor activities provided for all ages were over the top! Every detail in the finish of the cottage was outstanding. The decor, quality and function of all components all worked. We will definitely book this cottage again!

Beautiful, family friendly cottage in gorgeous Haliburton

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-week family vacation at this spacious, new cottage. Beautiful, open-concept kitchen-dining-living area with an additional 2 seating areas on the lower and upper floors provided lots of space for a larger group to hang out inside the cottage. Located on a private 90 acres with an expansive waterfront, we enjoyed our watersports on the lake and sitting on the dock. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with all of the amenities, this is the perfect spot. The cottage owners, Barb and Eric, were friendly, helpful and organized. We look forward to returning.

My wife Barb and I have been renting out properties shortly after we got married 41 years ago. We are especially proud of the Haliburton cottage. The catalyst for building this exclusive place is as a magnet for our five now fully grown family; four sons and one daughter and four grandchildren. We have stocked the place with everything we could possibly think of to keep the entire family happy and engaged. Our plan was to build it and they will come - so far this has been a big success. We are thrilled to make this place available for others to enjoy.
