HISTORY OF HOME
The home was originally a theater for the McCormick family. Stanley McCormick, son of Cyrus McCormick, the inventor of the reaper, had a form of dementia and was confined to the 87 acres of the Riven Rock estate. He had two male caregivers around the clock caring for him. He would come three times a week to the theater to view movies sent up specially from Hollywood. Two DVDs have been made about Stanley McCormick, one of which appeared in the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Many of the scenes were film in the house.
