One of Maui's popular vacation spots, Papakea is a peaceful Hawaiian Style low rise resort situated on 13 acres right on the ocean just a short walk to north Kaanapali Beach. The lushly landscaped grounds are immaculately maintained and adorned with red ginger and red palms. At dusk, every evening, the magical twinkling tiki lights are lit and reflect on the Koi ponds through-out the property. Papakea's location is as good as it gets! Within minutes, an easy walk to Duke's, shopping center, Farmers Market, coffee shops, sandy beaches, snorkeling and surfing.

Canal Repair Project Notice:
Papakea Resort will undergo a canal repair project from December 17, 2025 through mid-September 2026. Work will take place Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Guests may experience significant construction noise during these hours. Equipment and materials will be staged along the canal, resulting in limited parking in some areas. Holiday work is not expected.
We appreciate your understanding as the resort completes this necessary improvement project.

BEACHES & CRITTERS: The beach size in Hawaii varies month to month due to weather, heavy surf, strong currents, and tides. Due to Maui's rural setting, you may experience the occasional rooster, as well as harmless geckos. Geckos are friendly, eat insects, and are considered good luck in Hawaii. Please don't kill them. Although the HOA schedules regular professional pest control services, pests such as ants, roaches and rodents simply cannot be completely controlled in the tropics. Maui is in a tropical climate. If our guest spot more than the normal expected pests, we always make our best efforts to contact and work with the HOA to minimize your interactions with these pests. Any contact with such pests within or outside the unit does not constitute a breach of this Agreement or give Guest any right to any refund or rental adjustment.

Great view and stay!

We have stayed at Papakea in the past and really enjoy it there. The condo was great, the bed was comfortable, and everything we needed was there. The view from the lanai is stunning, we loved eating meals out there and watching whales. It was a great stay!

Beautiful Stay

We picked this in part because I used to live there. Just a couple blocks from where my brother lives, food trucks close. Dukes restaurant is also a short walk loved it thank you so much.

Always a Nice Stay

Nice, low key vibe at this property. Not crowded. Can sit on the lawn all day and look at the ocean. This unit's deck is in the shade all the time so if that's important to you, this is a good one to choose. Easy to walk to restaurants, stores and more. They take great care of the grounds. This was our third stay on the property.

Perfect location and view

This was our third stay at Papakea. This was the best unit with a great view of the pool area and Molokai. Room location afforded direct afternoon sun. Previous units were full sun in the afternoon and less enjoyable.Unit was is great shape. Our only complaint would be the bed spring was noisy but not a major concern.Papakea is great location with easy access to restaurants, groceries, and Ka’anapali Beach.

Great location in Maui

We loved the view from balcony overlooking the ocean and pool. Very convenient short walk to grocery store Time Market across street and ABC Market. Everything we needed and liked the elevator to location on third floor. Would return again. Also parking was conveniently next to our unit. The whole Papakea complex was beautifully kept up..Hatd to leave.

Great condo for a short stay

This was, unexpectedly, a really nice place to stay. Location was good for a small community condo. I personally don’t like the seven stories 10,000 people packed on top of each other resorts. The space inside was comfortable, breezy. We kept the window and the door open and we didn’t need AC at all. It’s not a five star hotel, but it has everything you need at a reasonable price.

Beautiful Papakea

The unit was lovely, furnishings were very nice, and the view was excellent. We had a few hiccups: the washer isn’t working due to a part on order but it was not communicated. TV in bedroom is not working. We asked for more towels and they were delivered promptly. All in all it was a very nice vacation.

Great vacation

Everything was as promised. From the communication to the welcome champagne we were treated extremely well. The view from K306 was spectacular from the first morning when we walked out of the bedroom walking towards the balcony and all we could see was ocean!! Overall it was a great property and seamless rental. The only knock against the property was the over protective security that basically ushered us off the balcony at 10pm the first night while playing cards! Apparently that was too loud? It was like a lights out call! Otherwise it was a fabulous location and great rental.

Almost perfect.

No beach in front of the property and the A/C is a small noisy window unit stuck in the front wall by the deck. A/C does not reach the bedroom where you need it and you can’t sit on the deck while it is on. Other wise the property is extremely well maintained and the unit is itself nice. It could use a new mattress. Parking was easy and there is food and markets within easy walking distance.

Fabulous!!

First of all Maui paradise properties are very communicative, which was great. We absolutely loved the vacation rental. All the supplies you would need are there. They provided a small bag of coffee which was delicious. I would brew a couple of cups a day & sit out on the lanai & look out to the beautiful ocean. We slept well, the bed was comfortable. Although, the a/c was only in the living room, the ceiling fan kept the bedroom cool. Papakea resort is fantastic, beautiful grounds, feels like you are away from the “crowd”…The location is great— food trucks nearby, a farmers market store which has yummy banana bread, a coffee shop. Also, there is a place down highway 30, you will pass heading to papakea resort called Leodas which has yummy pot pies & dessert pies. Anyway, this location is one i would recommend, still close to the Lahaina downtown wharf area with all the shops & cafes & Whalers village etc….

Great view of ocean!

Papakea is a very well-maintained property. We really like it here. There were some small things, they did not impact our stay, but wanted to share. When items are put in the refrigerator door, the door tends not to close on its own. We didn't realize this our first night and it ended up everything got warm overnight. Luckily we did not have any meat so did not have to toss anything out, but a little sticker or sign about this would help future renters. The fire extinguisher is not accessible due to closet door not able to open all the way. I would re-locate that. An instruction sheet for the bedroom TV would be helpful so that we don't bother the property manager in trying to figure out why we couldn't get any channels. Check light bulbs, one is out in the kitchen. And two more beach towels would have been nice for sitting on the chaise lounge chairs at the pool. This is a nice unit and property and definitely worth staying at. Thank you.

Better than the Photos

I searched based on 1. The view from the Balcony and 2. Price and A/C 3. Modern Kitchen and Bathroom. Their balcony views are closer to the ocean and pool than you can tell from the online photos. I was so impressed by the view and the amount of space out on it!! I read one review that said the AC was too far away to work in the bedroom, but we turned it off when gone and it still cooled things off fast. So, I disagree with that review about it not working. Another review said the bedroom is small. It is not wide enough for two nightstands. My suggestion would be to move the nightstand to the closet side of the bed. That would give everyone better access to use the closet to store some of their luggage and make it easier to pull out all the beach goodies they provide. As it is right now, you can hardly open the closet sliding doors. There are plenty of drawers (9) for clothes in the bedroom. I packed all 3 of my suitcases into one and rolled it down the side of the bed to make it into a nightstand for that side of the bed. That kept the luggage out of the way, too. The pool, hot tub and lawns were beautiful. Parking was never a problem. Nice restaurant next door to the south. I would definitely go back to that exact condo, K306. (2 guests, 7 nights in early/mid April, 2025, active 70 year-olds) Other suggestion would be to have a card telling everyone the dining table light and the balcony light are at the end of the Kitchen counter, 3 feet high.

A very nice property and view

Overall, we were very pleased with the unit at the Papakei resort. The property is immaculate and is in good shape with only a few issues that are listed below. The listing is accurate and there were no real surprises so you can rest assured what you’re seeing is what you get. A few of the standout positives would be the very nice Weber grills that are provided by the pool that are cleaned daily. Great WiFi, cable and putting green. Very nice staff A few things to point out that could be improved. First is the A/C. It’s small and super loud and doesn’t cool the bedroom so we were hot at night. But will freeze you on the couch. They are missing some very common kitchen items like spatula a set of tongs. The blender also does not have a top so you have to improvise something when making beverages. As other visitors have pointed out, the refrigerator door does not shut very well and is easily left open and takes a concerted effort to make sure it is closed. Needs ice bucket. The master bedroom is very small and does not have luggage stands so your luggage will take up what limited floor space there is. The closet is also full of coolers and chairs so there is limited closet space to put anything on the floor. Most of the closets in the hallway are locked for owners use so there is very little storage there either. I think if you tried to sleep 4 in this unit, you would be very cramped. But overall we enjoyed our stay and recommend this unit Papakea for a couple.

Papakea is a great property

Nice condo with ocean view. Good size for a couple with small children (who can sleep on fold out couch), we rented a crib the the 18 month old. Nice amenities at the site, which is well maintained. Property management company and site management responded quickly when we reported a maintenance issue.

We spent every meal on the lanai listening to the waves. The pool was wonderful, as was the Thursday early evening drinks, snacks and music near the pool. Helpful and friendly staff.

Beautiful xoxo with great view.

This is a very comfortable resort close to everything you want and need. Lively but not crowded or noisy. This condo is very comfortable and well located in the resort. It had everything we needed. We’ll come back again.
