I stayed in this location because my daughter lives just up the road. She recently had a baby and a toddler, so I travelled from Australia to help her.
The convenient location was important, however, there were so many disappointments with the quality of the property.
I didn't want to nitpick to the property manager, until I saw a mouse on 2 consecutive nights running from the kitchen to under the sofa I was sitting on.
So I must also mention the sink had drain flies, which I eradicated using boiling water and home made traps of cider vinegar and honey. The oven is broken, which I only discovered at the end of my stay, having not tried to use it before then.
The beds all have plastic mattress protectors, very uncomfortable in L.A heat, and the doonas are synthetic, musty smelling and without washable covers. I ended up borrowing bedding from my daughter.
The lounge rug is dirty as are the sofa cushions, the fan is covered in dust and the property generally feels grimey.
The kitchen is well enough equipped, however, has only 2 mismatched wine glasses of different sizes, one looks to be a give away with a logo printed on it. The dish drainer is dirty, and there are no teatowels or sponge cloths to wipe the benches etc
I contacted Don, the property manager and he was quick to respond and try to resolve the mouse problem, but this involved quite a few visits from maintenance and exterminators and was asked to not leave the doors open so that rodents could not enter, even though the weather was sweltering and the windows very stiff to open.
I was also asked if I could pick up mouse traps at the store 8 miles away, even though I had no car. I didn't complain about all the other niggling issues because I could not afford to find alternate accomodation further from my daughter when I have no means of transport.
On the plus side, the location is very convenient to parks and the beach, and the neighbourhood is very safe and friendly.
