The cabin was very conveniently located in Maggie valley, with easy driveway access and minutes from restaurants and breweries. The cabin was easy to find and the check in process was easy as well. The beds were comfortable. There were a few things that were disappointing. There were several things missing in the VRBO description, which are emailed to you right before check in, including that there is no wood provided for the fire place (not even duraflame logs or a lighter), and there is no trash pick up so you have to drive your trash to the recycling center which is 7 miles (14 minutes) away. During the check out process they ask you to wash and put away all of your dishes, start laundry for the towels, and remove the trash. This was a bit frustrating during the morning of check out because we couldn't start the towels until the dishes were done. So by the time we ate an early breakfast, we spent the morning doing chores while trying to pack up and be out by 10. Additionally the dish washer did not turn on, and there was no note that it was broken, so we loaded it with dirty dishes all weekend, only to have to take everything back out and wash by hand (and put away) the morning of check out. Regarding the hot tub, there is a $75 fee added whether you use the hot tub or not. Upon check in, you are sent notice that if you do not shower or if any residue is in the hot tub upon check out, you will be charged a penalty of $250. There is a strict noise ordinance at 10pm, which was no problem for us, but that was also not in the VRBO description and could be an issue for someone. Ironically, there was no noise ordinance for the kennel of barking dogs that barked the entire duration of our stay. Lastly, there were smaller details that were overlooked such as only providing ONE partially-used roll of toilet paper per bathroom with NO spares in the entire cabin. One roll of paper towels, no food storage containers or plastic wrap, baggies, only one dish sponge that was already used and dirty, etc. As an owner of a vacation rental property myself, they definitely skimped on providing basic supplies. The VRBO description said the kitchen was fully stocked, they must have been referring to only dishes and utensils because there was no coffee, etc. I hope this honest feedback helps the property manager improve future rentals.
