Two comments: 1. there were many tiny red ants in the kitchen which got into anything that wasn't tightly sealed (especially the garbage); 2. while the screen room was in better shape the seating was not, in previous years there was comfortable seating for 3-4 but this past visit there was only comfortable seating for 1.

Simmer vacation

We had a nice week together, my husband and I, 4 kids (ages 5-12), and my parents. The house was plenty big and nicely laid out for our family - everyone had a place to retreat, every bedroom had a bathroom, and the living room, dining room and kitchen are nicely laid out and comfortable. It’s a very nice house, but it needs some love and attention. Most of the furniture needs to be replaced or recovered. Two of the pieces were broken. The dishwasher didn’t work well and the dryer worked intermittently. The management company was responsive, but didn’t do anything. You need to provide your own sheets and towels, which is annoying. The photos are also a little misleading - the water in the picture is a tiny pond on an adjacent property. When I tried to clarify this before we arrived, we were just repeatedly told - “there is no water access” without any additional expiation.

Much nicer inside than you might first think

Great views out the windows. The pond view is nice. Lots of ibis, herons and small birds. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Front porch and stairs seriously need painting. There are vines growing around the handrails and starting up through the floorboards that are like those on some of the trees; might be poison oak. There were a good many ants coming into the upstairs smaller bedroom from around the sliding door. And all of the rear porches has not been swept (pinecones and needles and accumulated pollen on the decking and furniture). Interior floors were not too clean. Regardless of a few housekeeping issues it was a pleasant stay.

It was clean and comfortable, close to everything, and was the epitome of a quiet, relaxing vacation. It was also well appointed for our entire family, from my elderly mother, who benefitted from the first floor bed and bath, to my young adult children, who enjoyed walking along the quiet streets, to our dog, who felt at home on the first night! Overall, well worth the money and I would certainly stay again!

The decks all need work; very easy to get a sliver from the very worn and warped boards. Three t.v.’s in the house, upstairs, but none worked because Dish subscription had not been renewed. Dishwasher broken, furniture outdated, worn, and filthy. Black fungus/mold in showers. The whole place needs an overhaul. Overall very unhappy with this rental and will not rent it again.

Nice house. plenty of room.

Nice house. plenty of room. Would have appreciated a TV on the first level. There were 2 on the second level. Outside deck areas need replacement; very weathered boards sticking up and easy to get splinters. Mosquitoes of course but this is Chincoteaque after all.

Charming home, lovely location: just made for Chincoteague vacation

We spent a delightful week in this lovely home. It is light-filled and overlooks a duck/goose pond which is at the back of the property and also the bay which is only one house away. Well-stocked for in-home dining. Comfortable layout. Large screened-in porch and also open deck outside of master bedroom. Only thing that needs attention is the porch furniture. Other than that, it meets the description found on VRBO and we had a lovely time there.

Property management company didn't hit us up for a key replacement fee, which was nice of them and appreciated.

Overall stay was great. Need more cooking pans, casserole dishes. Water views were nice. Good job with the renovations. Open concept. Plenty room inside. Needed a TV downstairs. Alot more stairs getting to the house from outside. We would stay again

Great way to vacation

The property was well maintained and stocked. The TV situation was a bit perplexing as there were many more gizmos than outlets. still, who goes on vacation to watch TV and this wasn't a major issue. In all, this was a very good property and was near everything we were interested in. Also was pretty private even though there were other houses nearby.

Would not recommend

While the house is nice and spacious it is not well maintained or cleaned. Also the pictures are misleading. The picture that shows the water view is actually the back of the house which has a small pond with gross looking water. The couch in the living room stunk really bad and the white armrests looked gross. The bathroom in the first floor bedroom stunk as well. They put a blanket over that window as a curtain. The tub in the bathroom in the upstairs bedroom with the 2 beds barely drained so we were standing in dirty water with every shower. The bigger bed in that bedroom looked really questionable as it’s held together by screws that were added to fix it? The fan in the second upstairs bedroom is broken and they taped a note over the switch to not use it. The towel rack in this bathroom is not usable as it is not securely attached to the wall on one side. The house is surrounded by standing water making for a horrible mosquito situation. In general I would not recommend this house in its current condition for the price.

We had to go out and buy a standing fan for the bedroom. The futon in the loft was broken. We could not get the stove to heat up past 375 degrees which made cooking extremely hard. The mosquitos were terrible here, even in the enclosed porch. When we arrived there was trash in the yard that had not been cleaned up. We learned that animals get into the trash every night requiring you to pick up everything that was scattered daily.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house has plenty of space for two families, but that’s about it. Broken fan, bathroom towel racks are all falling off, all the furniture is from the 70’s and wiggly. The cleaning crew left a suitcase in a closet and something does in it so it was really smelly. Called the office to have them come get the suitcase and no one came. The shared doc was falling apart. There are better properties for the money and better rental agencies.

Great gateway

Even though the weather was particularly bad during our stay, we enjoyed the property and Chincoteague in general. Always a fun place to be and spend some quality time.

Relaxing Escape

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was the perfect island escape. The house is private and spacious, and the kitchen is well stocked for home cooked meals. The internet was excellent for working remotely and there was plenty of space to spread out in the house. The deck and screened in porch were wonderful to enjoy the beautiful sunsets! Great location - easy drive or bike ride into the main strip. We only have a few minor complaints: 1. the listing mentioned a grill but we didn't see one (cooked inside so this wasn't an issue). 2. the downstairs bathroom smelled like urine upon arrival (we brought cleaning supplies to help with this). 3. the upstairs shower drained very slowly (we used the other upstairs shower). 4. the screened porch has a tear and some bugs do get inside (we brought citronella candles to help with this since it was mentioned in other reviews). These issues weren't serious enough for us to contact the property management company, so can't comment on their responsiveness. However, the communication before the trip and key pick up/drop off were wonderful. Overall, this was a lovely rental property and we recommend it!
