Adega Velha is a wonderful place to escape to and enjoy the island of Pico. Hosts Fátima and Helio were so welcoming and helpful. Morning coffee on the patio with great ocean views, swimming in the ocean, hiking….lasting memories. Thank you!

A gem!

Adega Velha was a perfect place for the two of us while we explored Pico. Although it is a very small house, it was impeccably clean, comfortable and beautifully appointed. Everything you could imagine needing was there, tidily tucked in to its own appointed space. The view from the house is exceptional, and we found the quiet location so charming and restful. Fatima and her husband were extremely gracious, even leaving us a gift basket upon our arrival. I highly recommend this guest house and will gladly stay there again if back in Pico.

Fantastisch

Pico ist eine wunderschöne Insel, wir haben dort überwintert. Das Haus Adega Velha ist so schön, liegt phantastisch und ist sehr gemütlich. Das beste an unserem Aufenthalt aber waren unsere Gastgeber Fatima und Helio Soares. Wunderbare Menschen, die sich um alles kümmern, uns mit allem versorgt haben, was man sich nur wünschen kann. Die Beiden sind zu Freunden geworden und haben unseren Aufenthalt auf Pico so wunderschön gemacht! Obrigado!

Very cosy little cottage with spectacular views, it’s was very quiet and peaceful, comfortable .

Cosy little palace for a couple, with easy access to surrounding areas, Fatima and Helio Are amazing hosts, they gave us a warm welcome and made us feel at home. The welcoming basket with local produce and wine was much appreciated. They were both helpful in guiding us and provide informations about the island. A car is recommended to get around and the food at the restaurants is excellent but Pico wines are really the best. I would recommend to use google maps to locate the restaurants as it can be challenging on your first drive. The local bakery provides excellent bread. The cottage has everything one needs including good internet and cable television. We had a quiet, restful vacation which was very enjoyable. Thank you to Fatima and Helio and we might be back for a future visit Humphrey and Sylviane From Ottawa Canada

Vehla Dega ist ein kleines nettes Häuschen in dem man sich schnell wie zu Hause fühlt. Fàtima eine großartige Gastgeberinn die immer für ihre Gäste da ist. Wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste mal, herzlichen Dank für den schönen Urlaub.

Eine sehr schöne Unterkunft auf einer wunderschönen Insel

Zu dieser Unterkunft passt die Beschreibung "Klein aber oho". Wir waren Ende Januar für knapp eine Woche auf Pico und haben uns spontan in die Insel verliebt. Dieses Haus liegt im Südosten der Insel in einer (im Winter?!) sehr ruhigen Wohngegend. Die Küche ist mit allen Gerätschaften ausgestattet,die man benötigt,uns hat nichts gefehlt. Es gab auch ein Starterpaket (Brot,Butter,Milch,selbstgemachte Marmelade (sehr lecker!) und ebenfalls Wein aus eigener Herstellung). Es gibt auch eine Waschmachine und auf der Terasse einen Grill. Wir haben die Zeit auf der Insel und auch in dem Haus sehr genossen. Fàtima ist/war beim Check-in sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Wir können dieses Haus (und die Insel sowieso) uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Wonderful Christmas and New Years Eve in Adega Velha

My wife and I stayed in Adega Velha over Christmas and New Years Eve. We immediately felt home in the cozy small house. Even though Fatima was not at home over Christmas, she always took care about us and received immediate response if we needed anything. The people in the town are very friendly, the neighbor welcomed us and gave us fresh oranges as a gift. The view from the balcony onto the sea is really beautiful, on New Year we had a barbecue and enjoyed sitting there. We really recommend staying here!

Local tranquilo, acolhedor com uma vista magnifica. Majestosamente recebidos pelos seus proprietários, recomendo a todas as pessoas que apreciem locais rústicos, limpos, com conforto q.b. e todas as comodidades necessárias para umas férias bem passadas.Nas proximidades é fácil encontrar onde comer (restaurantes/bares), mini mercado, padaria, piscinas naturais no mar, entre outras. Naturalmente se um dia voltar ao Pico, saberei onde ficar...

A beautiful place on earth | Ein wunderschoener Ort

Fatima and Helio are incredibly hospitable and real life lovers :-) It's one of the most beautiful holiday houses in which we ever stayed. From the balcony we saw whales and dolphins and listened to the funny birds that come during nightfall from the sea to Pico. The house is located at a quiet place, a place to relax. Otherwise, there are beautiful hiking trails near by. The hike to the top of Pico, the highest mountain of Portugal will be rewarded with an overwhelming view. If you plan to do whale watching, Serge in Lajes (http://www.espacotalassa.com/) is great and something special in comparison to other companies. We learned a lot about sea life in advance, before we went to the sea. And there we saw a blue whale, incredible (season in May). Fatima und Helio sind unheimlich gastfreundlich und echte Lebensgeniesser :-) Es ist eines der schoensten Ferienhaeuser in denen wir jemals waren. Vom Balkon konnten wir Wale und Delfine sehen und die lustigen Voegel hoeren die zum Einbruch der Dunkelheit vom Meer das Land aufsuchen. Das Ferienhaus liegt an einem ruhigen Ort an dem man die Selle baumeln lassen kann. Ansonsten gibt es in der Umgebung schoene Wanderwege. Der Aufstieg zum Pico, dem hoechsten Berg von Portugal wird belohnt mit einer ueberwaeltigenden Aussicht. Unbedingt das Whale Watching bei Serge in Lajes (http://www.espacotalassa.com/) buchen wenn ihr das vorhabt. Vorab haben wir viel gelernt ueber das marine Leben, bevor es dann aufs Meer ging und wir dort einen Blauwal gesehen haben (Saison im Mai). Der absolute Oberhammer!

Heel mooi huisje, prachtig zeezicht

Heel mooi, klein huisje dat toch alles heeft wat je maar nodig kan hebben. Het zicht op de oceaan is fenomenaal, je kan je activiteiten op pico perfect combineren met een rustig momentje op het terras, al dan niet met de barbecue aan. Het huisje was heel proper, de eigenaar is de meest gastvrije persoon die ik ooit ontmoet heb, bij aankomst stond er een verrassingspakket (zelfgemaakte wijn en confituur) en ook bij vertrek was er een kleinigheidje. Ik zou deze woning zéker aanraden. Ik kan maar 1 ding aanmerken op het huisje zelf en dat is de matras van het bed, deze was niet zo goed voor mijn rug, maar ik ben niet naar de Azoren gegaan om te slapen.

Great place in beautiful village of Pico Island!

We spend wonderful time in beautiful village of Calheta de Nesquim, one of the most charming places on the Pico Island. The house was very comfortable, located close to the center of the village and charming little beach "piscina natural" - Poça das Mujas. The owners are very hospitable and helpful. This is the perfect place to rest and to explore the island. Highly reccommended!

Peaceful and Relaxing

This was truly a piece of paradise. We had such a relaxing time at Adega Velha - enjoying quiet days of outdoor peacefulness, spending lots of time in the outdoor spaces of the house. Fatima and Helio were such gracious hosts, and provided for everything you could think of! Everything!! The house is nicely situated, walking distance from the swimming hole and a nice little snack bar. On a trail route up the hills, a good hike. There are also fantastic restaurants just short driving distances away. You just "feel" like you're so far removed from everything but all the modern conveniences are close by.

Lovely place to stay!

We stayed for three nights and had the best time ever. The house was clean and had everything we needed, coffee maker, fridge, stove, beautiful patio, hot water. Fatima was a sweetheart and takes great care of the place. It was the offseason during our stay which was great because it was very quiet and peaceful. It's a short walk down to the swimming hole and I can imagine it's worth it in the summer.

Espírito Santo na Calheta de Nequim

Uma adega muito bem preparada com todas as condições para uma estadia tranquila. Tem uma vista sublime para o mar (em especial no piso superior - quarto). Tem uma área de churrasco com boas condições e tem todos os equipamentos necessários. O lugar é muito bonito. Altamente recomendável.

Um Sonho de Casinha

Acordar de manhã e ter á nossa frente o mar, as vinhas em redor, toda a zona envolvente, torna inesquecível a nossa estadia. A Poça das Mujas, logo ali tão perto, o banhinho matinal naquelas águas, a visita á Vila e á sua Igreja, não encontro palavras!! Os nossos anfitriões, foram de uma gentileza e amizade, muito raro nos dias de hoje, que só nos apetece lá ficar sem tempo sem datas, enfim ficar. Um abraço aos amigos, que nos receberam, como em nossa casa. Alice Maria

Felizardo porquê??? Por ter passado umas férias nesta Adega linda. O problema foi ter de entregar a chave aos donos!! Por minha vontade por lá ficaria bastante mais tempo. Tenho viajado bastante e posso afirmar que é dos locais onde me senti melhor, gostei imenso, recomendo vivamente. Um agradecimento aos proprietários, pela sua simpatia e carinho com que nos receberam, um bem haja para eles.

A minha estadia em Calheta de Nesquim

Quando visitei pela primeira vez a Calheta de Nesquim fiquei encantada com a sua beleza e as suas gentes,razão pela qual voltei em 2014. Fiquei hospedada com o meu marido nesta pequena casa pertença dos Senhores Hélio e D. Fátima, pessoas de fino trato e muito estimadas. A casa, embora pequena, é ideal para passar férias porque, além de bem localizada, faz-nos lembrar os tempos dos nossos avós. Está bem equipada e recomendo esta pequena casa a quem visite o Pico e deseje conhecer esta aldeia piscatória.

Férias na Calheta de Nesquim

Conjuntamente com minha mulher em Maio do ano de 2014 passei alguns dias na Ilha do Pico e estive hospedado na casa de férias "ADEGA VELHA" na Calheta de Nesquim, propriedade dos Senhores Hélio e D.Fátima, pessoas muito simpáticas, acolhedoras e muito humanas. A casa onde estivemos hospedados que aconselho a quem visita o PICO, é pequena mas tem todas as condições necessárias para passar férias na Ilha do Pico, mas especialmente em Calheta de Nesquim, aldeia piscatória e de vinhedos de gentes humildes, gentis e com paisagens deslumbrantes, além duma piscina natural com águas tépidas.
