The house is an old stagecoach inn. The ground floor has great living spaces with short ceiling heights. There are multiple bedrooms on the second floor with a bathroom to share. The third floor has 2 bedrooms. The inn has air conditioning throughout. All the amenities were good. The host is very responsive and welcoming. The beach area is well appointed with kayaks and life vests for guests to use.

Great family vacation spot

Twelve of us stayed in the main house, ages ranging from toddler to retired. Great location, and yes, the road can be busy with some road noise, everything else outweighed that concern including the free kayaks, the little beach, a nice deck with a view, and the location between Portsmouth and the Lakes Region. Excellent value.

Wedding Stay

This was a great stay. Definitely an older property but served the purpose. It's everything you need and our family had a great time. We would use it again. We did not use any of the amenities because of the weather but seems like there was plenty there.

Great Family Vacation

The house was great. Plenty of bedrooms for my family of 12. There were more then enough eating spots for the family to enjoy meals together. The lake was perfect for kayaking and fishing. The fishing was great, everyone caught at least 3 fish. The kitchen updates made cooking for everyone so easy. The grill is in good shape and work well. Nancy and Lee were the best hosts I've ever dealt with; they greeted us upon arrival and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. My family and I will definitely be back!

A lovely summer weekend on the lake

Nancy and Lee were wonderful hosts to our large group. They offered to check us in early, gave us helpful information upon our arrival, and were kind and welcoming throughout the entire weekend. The property is beautiful - the main house is old but well-kept and clean. It is perfect for a large group of friends or big family looking for a simple place on a lake for a perfect summer weekend. Bonus is it's pet-friendly! There are plenty of grills on the property, fire pits for bonfires, and kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats to explore the lake and surrounding islands. There are also lots of places to eat and even a brewery nearby. All in all, we had a great time thanks to our hosts, Nancy and Lee!

Good value, easygoing vacation , great hosts!

We were 2 couples, 3 young adult singles and one child. There are 7 bedrooms. All the singles and the child had their own private bedroom! The house is quite old with some newer renovations. The ceilings are low in spots and the stairs are steep and narrow. I would not recommend this house for those with balance or mobility issues. There was plenty of seating.

Lake

The place was clean and accommodated our needs. The negatives are there was no hairdryer available. Unable to find any outlets in the 2nd floor bathroom so you had to go to the first floor bathroom. There were no mirrors in the bedrooms so you couldn't use the hairdryer in the rooms. No blankets on the beds or in the closets. If you arrive when it is dark it is difficult to see the entrance because there was no light above or near there sign. They are also on a busy road.

Perfect Family Getaway

Harvey Lake Farmhouse – A Perfect Family Getaway! We had a wonderful stay at the farmhouse on Harvey Lake! The house was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for our group of adult children and their significant others to relax and spread out. Each bedroom even had its own TV, which was a great bonus. The view of the lake was absolutely stunning whether we were enjoying our morning coffee or winding down in the evening, it never got old. There were plenty of kayaks available, and we took full advantage of being right on the water. Inside, we appreciated the great selection of games, which made for some fun, cozy evenings together.Nancy and Lee were excellent hosts, very responsive and full of great recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. The location was perfect: quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to enjoy mini golf, real golf, restaurants, and shopping at the outlets. A highlight of our trip was spending time at the Concord Main Street Festival, such a fun experience! All in all, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing, scenic, and activity-filled getaway. We’d love to come back!

Walsh Family Vacation 2019

We all had a wonderful time. Nancy and Lee are excellent host and hostesses. All went fishing and kayaking. My grandson found friends and now loves to kayak. The house has plenty of room. They were very welcoming to our old little dogs. The other guess in the cottages were all very friendly. The lake is beautiful. We did do some antiquing which was fun. I would definitely recommend The cottages at Harvey Lake. It was fun, laid back and our family laughed and had fun. Thank you Nancy and Lee. Lisa and Tom Walsh

Nice not great

Pro’s: Nancy is incredibly kind, and quick to respond to any needs we had. She personally greets all guests when they arrive. There are plenty of kayaks, paddle boat, and different size life jackets. Fabulous fire pit area. Grill was dirty, but there was a wire brush there to clean it. Small, but very clean beach area with a few lounge chairs. Super easy to keep an eye on the kids. The lake is beautiful! We only saw one jet ski while we were there. Did not see any power boats though, but I believe they are allowed. The lake is incredibly clean. Perfect for swimming. There is a little island you can paddle out to and explore. Tons of board games available to use. A washer (top load) and dryer was a huge plus for us, as we had two lake loving dogs and four kids with us! More than enough space in the main house for large family to find some peace and quiet. Kitchen has all major appliances, clean, and in great working condition. Small bottle of dish soap, new sponge, and plenty of dish towels available. Pots, pans were clean, and there were a few of each. There is also a cake pan (glass). More than enough linens available. Water pressure was excellent Plenty of hot water (unless the washer is running, then it is a cold shower for you😉) A/C units on each bedroom, and in the family room/kitchen area. Cons: You must know this is right on an incredibly busy main road. The road noise is very loud. kitchen had very limited cooking utensils. This was tough for me, as I do a lot of cooking. There was one 2 cup measuring cup, and an incomplete set of measuring spoons. I believe there was one cooking spatula and some sort of spatula with a slot in it. There is no strainer for pasta or rinsing veggies. The knife block only had a few knives in it, and they were not sharp. There are absolutely no staples in the kitchen except salt and pepper shakers. Nancy was kind enough to bring me flour, so I didn’t have to run out and buy a bag. There is no oil, flour, sugar, or spices of any kind. I asked for some floor cleaning supplies b/c my dogs paws are always dirty. Nancy left the supplies for me, but the mop was so dirty, the floors were never going to get too clean. The main floor bathroom caulking really needs to be redone. I think the bathroom was relatively clean, but when the white caulk is so stained, it makes me wonder. The A/C units and fans worked very well, but they had a lot of dust built up.

Thank you for the kind and thoughtful words of encouragement. Our property is on a more heavily traveled road than some properties, which may be especially true when people are coming and going from work. It also means that we are easy to get to, are convenient to major New Hampshire attractions, and have many great local restaurants, a NH State liquor store, laundromat, supermarket, churches, healthcare and much more nearby. Most of our guests say they don’t hear the traffic after they have been here for a bit. The Cottages at Harvey Lake has over 5 acres of waterfront property with plenty of room to spread out. As you can imagine, cleaning a large 6 bedroom home requires significant time. We assure that all areas throughout the home are cleaned and disinfected between guests. We never reuse bedding or linens (as many hotels do). As a pet friendly vacation destination, additional time is always spent following each guest with pets to assure that all dander is removed, and the air is purified. We suspect that our guests with allergies or sensitivities are especially appreciative of that. 😊 Thank you again for staying with us. Please consider visiting us in the future, should your vacation plans bring you back to our area. If you have any additional suggestions please call us. We are happy to hear from you! Thanks. Great house for big family gathering.

With 6 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a modern kitchen, large dining room, large laundry room, 2 bathrooms, a screened in porch and large deck, this house always had plenty of room for all our activities. The Sandy beach with its paddle boat, 7 kayaks, and lounge chairs was a great way to start our days during a very hot summer. Kayak trips to the island for lunch were a fun highlight. The friendliness of Nancy and Lee with their helpful information made our whole experience delightful. There are very good restaurants and children’s activities within 15 minutes of the house, so much available to enjoy every day. Looking from the deck to the lake and seeing two great blue herons on the dock was a special treat!

Lovely time making memories!

Nancy was a joy, very helpful and attentive, made us feel very welcome. The kitchen was recently updated and great, plenty of room to store stuff. Most rooms had air conditioning which was very needed the two weeks we were there and the house amazingly stayed cool, that is unexpected for a house this old. Some things I want to mention just to help people , again the stay was great. The traffic can be loud, bring a white noise thing. The stairs to the bedrooms are sturdy but not standard for these days and can be difficult for people with mobility issues. The fire pit was on the other side of a cottage so we never used it. The lake entrance is shared with the cottages and had a great sandy beach and entrance into the water was great, with or without lake shoes. Swimming was great no issues with weeds or fish. There was a big turtle but he stayed his distance <3 I would recommend the big house for a great family vacation. Oh the porch was our favorite it had sun all day long!

Great place for large gatherings

We had a large group of family and friends, and this was the perfect place for us! We were so happy we found it. Nancy was a great host! Very quick to respond to text messages, there if you needed her, but never there constantly bugging us. We stayed in the main house. It’s 200 years old, so it has its quirks, but we thought it was great with a lot of character. Harvey Lake was beautiful and it was awesome being able to walk down to fish whenever we wanted. Huge fire pit with the house which was perfect for 14 of us! We are definitely planning on going back! Thank you Nancy for being such s great host with a beautiful property!

Great stay at the lake!

We had a great week at the main house. Nancy and Lee are super friendly and very responsive. The house is on a main road, so there is a lot of road noise but we knew that going in so it wasn’t a problelm. The house is 200 yrs old and they have done a nice job keeping the charm and adding some modern conveniences. The lake access is well maintained and there were plenty of kayaks for the five of us. The other guests were all friendly and there were so many cute dogs!! A great trip all around.

Our CottagesOur cottages have not only been a part of our family’s history, but are truly integral to the Town of Northwood’s history.  As the story goes, the 200 year old “Main House”, was considered to be a favorite resting spot for travelers heading through to Concord across the First NH Turnpike.   Later, the cottages were built to allow vacationers to enjoy the one of the best kept secrets of lake getaways.  We’ve kept that hometown charm and feel which allows you to enjoy the same, simple lifestyle, which our grandparents may have enjoyed.  Of course, we’ve added some expected conveniences such as    Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and climate controlled cottages.  Each cottage enjoys a fully unobstructed water view and frontage on the Lake.  Inside you’ll find everything you need for your vacation getaway including linens, towels, soaps, shampoo, and a kitchen that includes everything you need to prepare that fantastic breakfast, lunch or dinner!  Outside, is your own gas grill and fire pit for that romantic campfire.  When you awake each day, you can enjoy taking out a kayak or sit with your family to enjoy the sunrise on a perfectly calm lake.  If you are planning a large family gathering, or even if you want a little extra space, consider the “Main House” as your destination.  The home offers you room for up to 16 guests yet is economically priced to create that romantic getaway for you and your “best friend”. We hope you agree with us that The Cottages at Harvey Lake are truly “Where family memories are made!”
