For what we were looking for, the Kona Cabin was perfect in every way. We booked this trip earlier this year and every time work got crazy, I looked at the link here on VRBO dreaming of the 12 days when we could be there. Well, the actual experience was even better than what we had envisioned. It was a morphing of all the things we love--healthy food, wildlife, dogs, cats, art and the ocean. The Kona Cabin was comfortable and we saved a ton of money, because Jeffrey and Heide provided all of the snorkeling gear and beach chairs and their kitchen was stocked with spices, utensils, coffee maker, blender, etc. They have a nice selection of DVDs and music CDs and WiFi, which was nice. It’s a semi-rustic experience and if you’re into the luxury of a hotel where they clean your room every day, this may not be a great match for you. But, if you’re looking for a great Island experience that makes you feel like you’re in the jungle, this is it! Huge avocadoes, a plethora of exotic fruits, macadamia nuts you can pick right outside your door and crack them in the kitchen; our hosts’ 3 dogs, their chickens, sheep and assorted wildlife. And if you’re a decent table tennis player, please stay with them, because we provided little competition for Jeffrey, although he’s a great teacher. Heidi is an exceptional artist and they both have incredible souls. Meeting them made the whole thing complete!
