Shabby Rental

Very disappointed in the property. The only pthe positives were the location and the pool. This place is so shabby and dirty! Furnishings should have been replaced years ago; nothing says "beach" or "tropical" about this place. Everything is a hodge-podge of equipment! Kitchen was very disorganized with piece meal dishware and small appliances; this place hasn't been organized/updated in some time. So glad we saw this place before selecting a long term rental; nasty!

Nice location

We had four adults and three kids five and under on our trip. The house fit our needs and the heated pool was a huge hit! The proximity to Sombrero Beach (along with other places like the grocery stores and other keys) was very convenient. We thought the kitchen could be updated but it had the essentials like pots and pans. We had a few questions during our stay and tried to contact Jessica, our agent, but we never received responses back on the pre-established text line (that’s why communication didn’t get five stars). One question was when to put out the trash because we didn’t see the info in our packet but someone else pulled the trash cans out for us. Another concern was the pier/dock. The boards are looking worn and may need to be addressed soon. There were also cracked deck boards (most likely from sun exposure) on the upper deck of the house. Overall, this house fit our needs and we had a great trip.

Great Location

Great location but had AC break down two times in three days Jessicia the property manager was awesome. AC company tried to fix bad AC very hard to sleep in 87' temp. We ended up moving to a different house. Jessicia worked very hard to save our family vacation. Advice to owner house need some TLC.

Wonderful home and area

Such a wonderful place to stay. Location was near perfect. Half way between beach and supermarkets made going to the beach and feeding the family a breeze.

Great place to relax

Great place to relax and disconnect from the normal go-go-go life. Nothing much to do besides waking up late, chilling by the pool, and enjoying quiet time with the family

Nurses get away

The house is beautiful. The pool is even better! We stayed 7 years ago, before the pool, and it was great then. No need to go to the beach. Was a little disappointed that the house did not contain little things like TP, trash bags from the previous renters (we always leave "leftovers" for the next people). Maybe its a Covid thing?? The floor vent in the upstairs bedroom is/was broken. Little tricky navigating it in the dark at night. Overall, wonderful place.

Good location, slightly dated

This property was just as described, a lot of the furniture was dated. House was beautiful, disappointed to see discarded flower potsand some trash in the water at the dock area.. Gorgeous views from the top deck. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

Great location and home

My family of 4 and parents loved this place! Pool was perfect, lots of noodles, rafts, beach chairs, and toys. Bikes and kayaks also included. We loved walking to the beach and playground. The covered porch was our favorite spot to relax and feel the ocean breeze. So sad to see it’s unavailable next February as we most certainly would return!

January Escape

Easy check in, house was clean when we arrived. Perfect space for our family of four and two grandparents. Great fishing from the dock! Appreciated the new pool with plenty of toys, along with all supplies needed for a beach day. Highly recommend this great location close to Sombrero beach!

Don't Bring Your Boat

House and pool were great - boat dock and water front canal were horrible - we have 20ft bay boat and were at the mercy of the tides to be able to get in and out - at low tide parts of channel completely dried up to 100% mud - smell was really bad too - had to be mid to high tide to get out - high acid content in water at boat dock - no fish in canal - lot of metal bolts exposed on outer boat dock pylons - will never rent again on this canal

Bad canal

Arrived in June with no a/c. Was able to contact the property manager she said the repair man would be there that night. No one showed up until 10 am the next morning. We wasted an entire day waiting to get the unit fixed. The repair man told us that they new about it, and it was ongoing issue. Unit still not fixed. Needs to be replaced. Property description does not disclose extremely shallow channels into the canal. It was so that low that one evening we could not get our boat back to our dock. Had to plan the rest of our boating around the low tides. We have a 30ft cc. We could not get our boat out most days. The house itself is beautiful, but broken patio furniture, and the toilet seat was broken in the master bath. We will not stay here again. Asked for a refund for the first night, we received no response from the property manager. Extremely disappointed with the management.

Nice place

This was a very nice beach house. My kids spent hours swimming in the pool, which was clean and lots of fun. The location was great, just a short 10-minute walk to Sombrero Beach. We loved the fact that there were two decks. The shaded one was perfect for daytime use, and the upper uncovered deck was great for stargazing at night. There were a few problems. The online listing said the house came with two bikes, fishing poles, and beach chairs. That was not true. None of those items were present. The listing also mentioned a kayak. While there were two kayaks, they were unusable because of the lack of life preservers. I tried to buy life jackets on the island, but the marine stores were sold out. This was a disappointment to us as we had been planning to use the kayak (and the nonexistent bikes). The Wi-Fi password was not provided in the check-in materials. As a result, we were unable to use the Wi-Fi for the first two days until my son somehow located the password in the TV settings. Overall, a fine place with a few easily fixable issues that the owners should address before renting it out again. We would stay there again.

Good place to stay

House was clean, nice pool! Cold A/C and fully equipped kitchen. Pots and pans could be upgraded due to age and burnt old food in them. All in all we enjoyed the place great location.

Great property

This rental was perfect for my family! It was clean and in a very nice area, the pool Was beautiful and we enjoyed it every day. Fishing off the dock was fun and exciting! Dock was perfect for the 22 foot rental boat, coming in and out of the canal was tricky but once figured out was easy to do. Would recommend this property to anyone looking for time away!

Great location and pool average house

Sombrero Beach is a fantastic location. We loved the pool and the dock was helpful. The layout for a family if 5 was great. We did find the house well used and below average. The seating was very poor. There were 2 bar stools at the breakfast bar that were too small, the living room has a couch that was fine but the other chairs were poor quality and uncomfortable. There were multiple issues with a toilet and smoke alarm and unfortunately the property manager did not respond. The pool and fenced in back yard were great but there was no access to the backyard unless you went out thr front door and walked around the back. We did enjoy the views from both decks and love Marathon.

My family loved staying here. The home was clean and so beautiful. Great amenities, like bikes and fishing poles and great pool! We used it everyday and loved it! Great communication with property manager...very well cared for! HIGHLY recommend!

Great house, great location

The house was perfect for our family vacation! Great to watch the sunrise, the outdoor living areas are nice, the pool is fantastic and the location near Sombrero Beach makes those beach days so easy. We would happily stay there again!

Quick family vacation get away

The house was nice /pool was amazing and great to come back to after fishing/snorkeling. The dock was nice and we tied up our 25’ boat with no problems. The channel is marked but very shallow at low tide, we made it every time but kicked up mud at hi and low tide. ( stay in the pvc pipes ) . The patio furniture on the balcony’s and around the pool need upgrading but overall it was a great place! Kids , Wife and dad all had a great time!!
