Renter Beware:The location was not bad for a wine trip to Napa and the house itself was nice and had great space. However, communications regarding a broken toilet seat were less than professional and very accusatory. Although the host responded quickly to our email about the toilet seat being cracked upon arrival (reported the following morning due to timing of the discovery), the phone conversation was less than professional and very accusatory to the point where we felt forced to agree to pay for a replacement toilet seat, even though we were not responsible for the damage. In addition, we were informed that a replacement toilet seat would most likely not be able to be obtained and installed during our rental period. I was charged upon check-out 75 for a toilet seat replacement and installation. However, when I requested a copy of the itemized receipt be provided (75 seems very high) I did not receive a response from the host. Following up with another email a couple days later, I was told the repair hadn't been done yet as the toilet seat had not arrived (the local hardware stores had toilet seats in stock...), yet my card had been charged several days prior. Upon arrival, we recommend doing a very thorough walk-thru of the house and document the condition of items with photos or video (including things you would not normally inspect like a toilet seat). Recommendation to provide more blankets/throws for relaxing in the house, as we were able to find only 2 extras.
