A beautiful property, clean and well maintained. The bedroom at the back was quiet with plenty of storage and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen had every appliance necessary. The settees in the sitting room were too low for me as I have a bad back but Frank arranged for a more upright armchair to be moved in. The lovely pool was a bonus as the weather was very variable. I found the key cupboard difficult to negotiate where it was sited and the entrance light did not work. These however are just 2 small niggles. Frank made every effort to make my stay enjoyable and the welcome basket was a generous surprise. I highly recommend this property, especially for families.

We had lovely week! The house is large with spacious rooms which were very comfortable for the 7 of us. Children loved the pool and it was used daily. House is very clean and has everything you need however, just to be aware, we found the fridge very small for a large family. Lots of places to visit in the local area. I would have given 5 stars however, despite being told the owner would come on a Tuesday morning to check to pool and would barely be noticed, he arrived with someone to service the boiler and said he was staying to fix a flat roof (we assume was on the shed as we couldnt see any others). This meant we couldn't use the garden as we usually did each morning in the glorious weather as our dog would bark and we had no privacy while they were there. I know these things have to be done however it just seemed they could have been planned for another time (we weren't told anything was urgent) perhaps in a quieter season. This aside, we had a lovely week.

6th time stay gets better every time

It’s a lovely clean and spacious house and gardens every amenity you could wish for. Swings for kids outside games room for adults inc pool and darts Games for kids upstairs and then the lovely warm pool perfect after a walk in the local area. 10 mins in car from Scarborough or Filey. It’s perfect. We will be back

Lovely house. The swimming pool and play room/ games room were appreciated by all. Children loved pool. Location was spot on, not too far from coast but quiet semi rural location. Cannot fault this listing.

Well needed break

Absolutely fabulous home from home, after a difficult 2 years we were all ready for a break and we certainly had that. The house has everything you need to entertain everyone even a very busy 7 year old. Sandra and Frank were fabulous hosts and have already recommend to family and friends. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely break

We had a really great time. The house was spacious, clean and well kitted out. It felt like the hosts had really considered what people might want on their holiday rather than just providing the bare minimum. We had a lovely welcome basket on arrival, a helpful guest book and just everything we might need really. Communication was all very clear and friendly. The pool was lovely and we spent a lot of time swimming! The weather wasn't great for us but the garden was also really big with a stream in it and would have been great too if conditions were better! The games room was another fun addition, as was the play room upstairs with a few soft toys which my youngest daughter (3) loved! All in all a great week, we would definitely go back!

Amazing holiday

We have just come back from an amazing stay at Brookside, so good we have already booked for next year. The property has everything which you will need. Being the British weather it was grey and overcast but this didn’t matter we had everything in the property to keep the kids entertained as well as the adults in the party.

Perfect

Fabulous, spacious accommodation with so much to do. The pool was lovely and the games room provided endless fun. Beautiful beaches close by, comfy beds, great showers with plentiful hot water. Owners respectful of privacy but on hand and responsive if needed, with the little welcome pack being a nice surprise and very much appreciated. Highly recommended.

An excellent holiday home

A smooth process, good communication with the property owners. First class facilities within the house, everything in working order. Our grandsons were over the moon - their personal leisure centre at their fingertips. Wholly recommend this property.

Great place for a family get together

Fully lived up to our hopes and expectations. Everything we needed was provided. Comfortable, warm and spacious. Lots of options for family entertainment. Already looking forward to our next stay there.

Fantastic stay

Fantastic social house. The pool table and darts are great. Kids love the play room and the bonus of a private pool. Weather not good enough to play outside but swings and spacious garden look great Our 4 th visit and we will be back

Second stay- wonderful as ever

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay once again. Please note that the garden is not secure (just always useful to know) for dogs but apart from that it a home from home and the pool just completes it

What a treat!

Lovely, spacious house in a beautiful setting. We so enjoyed morning coffee in the garden looking at the trees and stream. When we weren't exploring the local area (castle howard was amazing!) we enjoyed games of darts, pool, table football and the swimming pool was wonderful! The play room in the loft space was a big hit with our 6 and 7 year olds. The hosts Frank and Sandra were so kind and friendly and we really appreciated the treats they left us. Brookside is going to be hard to beat! We hope to return in the future

Terrible.

Very unclean when we arrived. Was a dirty pair of men's underwear in our dressing table stool. Covered in God knows what. So much for covid extra cleaning. Many things broken. No heating on til following day at all. So cold first day. Same with pool. Hot water ran out very fast. Not everybody could have a shower they did have one electric one but surprise was set so cut out after certain amount of time Everything rigged. Fire in living room would only go on a few mins then off. There was a bad flies problem we noticed also. Seemed to be coming from upstairs. No less than twenty flies in house on arrival. We only booked be suse it said five out of five. Ha. That was a joke. Awful. Way way overpriced terrible for price Wouldn't go back. Then to top it all off I was emailed saying where's a wire and usb thing. Threatened with being charged for it. We never touched them. My kids are teens who didn't even go in the playroom bit. And my son brought his own VR etc. Which was done in living room. After this I mentioned all the issues and wasn't even giving a reply. Avoid.

Don't deliberate, just book it!

The property was even better than the photos suggested. Perfect for a family group ranging from 14 to 80! Plenty of activities and places to visit in relatively easy reach and the pool and games room were perfect. Wish we'd known about this property 10 years ago when the kids were younger as the children's play room upstairs was fantastic. Great communication from Frank and Sandra. All in all an excellent time was had, even though I didn't win the pool tournament

Great stay in North Yorkshire with family.

We have just had a great week staying at Brookside. Firstly the swimming pool the kids (6, 8, 10, 12), loved it we could not get them out. They went in, morning afternoon & early evening. The games room was also a firm favourite with pool table, darts & table football to keep us all entertained. The garden was large with plenty of mature plants & trees. There were a couple of swings & a basketball net & it's bordered by a shallow brook running down the side. The owners very kindly left us some sweets for the kids & a few essential grocery's which were appreciated. The whole bungalow was spacious with plenty of room for the eight of us. Lastly location wise is great, it's a 20 minute run to Scarborough & Filey, with many other amenities nearby. Would not hesitate to recommend Brookside to anyone.

Wonderful holiday

Just arrived home from a wonderful week at Brookside . Our eldest son now lives in Edinburgh so we chose an area halfway between him and the rest of our family. It was a perfect holiday location , it’s a huge property lots of space for eight adults .Sandra and Frank were great hosts and have added so many extras to make the stay easier. We would definitely return and just so you know the photos do not do the house the justice it deserves. Highly recommend staying at Brookside

Everything we had hoped for!

The property and all it's facilities were fantastic. All our needs were catered for. It was very comfortable with a high standard of cleanliness throughout. The garden is a lovely feature as well as the playroom and pool, which were a firm favourite for our family. We were also thrilled to receive a 'welcome' box with bread, eggs, milk and sweets for the kids etc. It was a lovely gesture. We will definitley be returning for another family holiday!

Yorkshire visit

The swimming pool did it for us, well kept, a swim every morning, nothing better. Games room with pool table, great entertainment, pleasant change from watching tv. Good location for seeing many Yorkshire destinations. The property had everything we needed.

Lovely property

The bungalow was very spacious, very clean, everything in it you needed. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anybody, it’s suitable for family’s with children or an all adult group. It was very comfortable. There wasn’t really any food places local like takeaway, as the fish and chip shop only opens Thursdays and Fridays. But the bungalow and location was brilliant, lovely for walks the dogs enjoyed it too.

Brookside is owned by Frank and Sandra who live in Filey, North Yorkshire. We bought the property in 2007 and spent 6 long months totally refurbishing the property to get it ready for the rental market. Each year we make improvements, the most recent being enclosing the 'open' porch and replacing the flooring in the dining room. We feel that guests deserve to stay in a property that is maintained and cleaned to the highest quality.

We've had many great times there with our family (including Sandra's 50th birthday party) and really hope all of our guests enjoy it as much as we do.

We used to holiday nearby and fell in love with the area. The beaches at Filey and Scarborough are only a short drive away, as is the market town of Pickering and the beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale. We felt it was the perfect position for both country and beach lovers alike.

We had intended to retire to Brookside, but due to family circumstances, were unable to do so. We love the house and think of it as a second home.

Brookside has a large garden with fabulous views over the Yorkshire Wolds. It sits on the edge of the village and is surrounded by fields and has a stream that runs the full length of the property. The swimming pool also affords the same views and has comfy furniture so that you can enjoy the surroundings even if you don't like to swim. It is a very spacious bungalow and we are sure that you will find the surroundings relaxing. We have tried our best to cater for families and the English weather by providing a games room and a children's room.
