Excellent apartment and location
Just returned from an enjoyable two week stay in this apartment. The NW region of Sardinia is beautiful and perfectly suited us with rugged coast line, dramatic mountain scenery, white sand beaches fringing turquoise sea and charming towns and villages.
The apartment is in a quiet residential area, close to the lido and supermarkets literally on the doorstep, with friendly neighbours. There are also cafés, restaurants, pizzerias and gelataria nearby but for atmosphere you have to visit the old town. This is within walking distance (a little over a mile), though there is a regular bus service from the end of the street. If you feel mildly energetic then take a stroll in the sun along the promenade past the lido and marina. It is enjoyable, and need not be exhausting, with ample opportunities to rest at the many cafés and bars along the route.
If pretending to be a local is your thing, enjoying immersing yourself in the culture by shopping locally and “self-catering” a great deal of the time, then the apartment is well equipped and a good size (generous) for two people. We were very comfortable, enjoyed eating meals on the small balcony or relaxing with a drink in the ground level area, slept soundly in the comfortable bed though we had to resort to running the a/c a couple of nights. The washing machine was appreciated enabling us to refresh clothes made limp by the high temperatures we experienced, though the “rapid” wash took a long time and we used the spin cycle to finish off small items washed by hand.
Lucia is a caring host, generous with her time and concerned to ensure her guests have an enjoyable trouble free stay. We visited all the places Lucia recommended and really enjoyed these, beaches/towns/pizzeria etc, and appreciated the time Lucia spent to put us at ease and provide local knowledge. Lucia speaks excellent English, much to our relief, and when involved in a minor car accident we called upon Lucia (by phone) and she willingly assisted us speaking to the Sardinian lady we collided with providing her with reassurance. We were then surprised within a few minutes of this phone call for Lucia’s sister to arrive at the scene to ensure we were OK. Thanks to their intervention the situation was resolved amicably and we parted company with the Sardinian lady on very good terms. These services were beyond what could be reasonably expected of a property host but are a good example of how Lucia and her family look after their guests.
