We had a great time here. Directions were great and made it super easy to find. The place was the perfect size and they thought of everything. Pool area was beautiful and relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect getaway. Guest house had everything we needed and more. Pool area was great. Night swimming is a must! We would for sure return if ever in the area.

Excellent relaxing stay

Captain Bill's Guest House was a wonderful choice for us. We wanted to go hiking at the various state parks in the area and there were several excellent ones nearby. After a full day of hiking we were able to go back and relax by the pool. I have never seen a more beautifully landscaped pool area. It was truly amazing! There was lots of shade if you did not want to be in the heat of the sun or you could get full sun if you wanted.Uncle Bill was extremely friendly! At first we were a bit nervous about sharing the pool area with other guests and the owner but Uncle Bill and the other guests were very welcoming and we enjoyed visiting with them.A fantastic choice!

Cute spot - steep stairs

Cute little house. Clean and comfortable. Only thing I’d note is where you stay is on 2nd floor, and the staircase is extremely steep, with short treads and some hand holds instead of railing and only on one side. Carrying gear up and down the staircase is sketchy. There is almost no cell service so I had to walk a ways down the drive to get a single bar in order to open the app and get my message with the code to open the front door of the house. I would recommend screen shotting the message with the code prior. We did not go to the pool area, so no comment there.

Great place to stay. Convenient location to Cataract Falls and boat ramp. Great local places to eat breakfast and dinner. Bill was great to communicate with.

Girls Getaway

We loved the relaxing pool area, the back deck up in the trees and the studio rental was the perfect amount of space for us. Thank you for your quick responses to our questions. We would love to bring more friends and fill all the units and the pool area! Loved this hidden gem!

4th Of July Mini Vacay

We chose this place for a last minute mini vacation and wanted a place with a pool for our son and nephew to swim. Location is one hour from our home but the place felt like a resort in another state! Captain Bill and First Mate Becky are very generous to share their beautiful space ! The apartment had everything needed to cook , clean and play! We also met new friends that were staying in one of Captain Bills other cottages down the hill from us. Our son said to give this place a 10/10 and we AGREE! We will be planning another trip here soon :) Thank you Captain Bill and First Mate Becky !!!

Lovely and relaxing

Really enjoyed our stay here, The hosts were wonderful and helpful. The place was perfect for the two of us and the surrounding area was beautiful. Interesting places to see were the Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, the Owen Valley Winery, and several good diners near by.

Perfect location close to our Indiana family for visiting grandkids with the pool access as an extra perk. Captain Bill and First Mate Becky are very welcoming and gracious hosts. Loved the nautical theme and size of the garage upstairs apartment, although there's a noticeable musty smell and signs of some water damage on the ceiling kitchen area; the patio furniture appeared to have never been cleaned yet this summer, otherwise would have given a 5.

Relaxing by the pool

This is one of the nicest rentals I've ever been to. My adult daughter and I needed a 2 night getaway and we just wanted to relax. When I saw pictures of the pool area, I knew this was the place. Captain Bill and Becky are serious about making sure every detail is covered. The pool is just 20 steps or so across the drive and the private door opens up to a tropical paradise. The unit that we stayed in was loft-style above a garage, but was spacious and tastefully decorated. The steps could be an issue for someone with mobility problems, but they own several units in the area. This is a rural area, but several quaint restaurants are within driving distance. There are also many places to check out in the area parks. Cataract Falls was breathtaking. Hike or relax, or do both. I had read in another review that they provided everything you need for your stay and that was very accurate. I would definitely recommend this rental and hope to return some day!

Nautical Adventure

Property was as advertised; clean, attractive, loft-style apartment, with access to laundry, a beautiful spacious deck, & grill Awesome nautical decor, & all the kitchen, bath (including bath towels), & cleaning items we needed. The kitchen was stocked with spices & coffee/k-cups, & the fridge/freezer had condiments & ice The main bed was a comfortable queen size bed with a ton of pillows. The pullout couch bed worked great for the kids, but may cripple an adult. But that's what I expect from any pull out! Lol There were several board games in the apartment that the children enjoyed playing, and the pool area is an entertainment paradise. The kids & I loved it. Large, plush beach towels were provided, so no need to pack those There were a few waterfalls nearby, our favorite being McCormick's Creek Canyon Falls, located in McCormick's Creek State Park about 30 minutes away. Our 8 & 10 yr old kids were able to climb up the falls with no problem, & we able to walk upstream & back. It would also be ideal for younger children to play in as well, & even climb with adult help The only downside we ran into was that although the two supplied TVs & all of our devices connected to the Wifi, it was connected without internet service. I presume this was temporary glitch through the provider. We had no issues to complain about except asking about the Wifi, but when we did reach out to ask a question, Capt Bill & Becky were very friendly & responsive. We would definitely stayb again

Beautiful lake, falls & stay

We had a great time in the beautiful guest house within a minute drive of the lake. 15 minutes from the beautiful Cataract Falls.

In 1987 I had the good fortune of playing in the Pan American Games held in Indianapolis. It was that tournament that qualified my team to compete In the 1988 Olympic Games in the sport of Team Handball. I wrote in my diary the day before leaving Indianapolis that I felt as if I would live in this city someday. So here I am, since 1989. Love it!!!

After settling in Indy, and starting a couple of businesses, I purchased the large lakehouse adjacent to Guest Lodge, where you can find me most weekends. For years, I've made memories with family and friends on Cataract Lake and the area has become my second home. You'll find me at the lake, on my motorcycle, or enjoying my backyard and home most the time. I love hosting guests and making new friends so feel free to say HI!

My vacation weekend home is adjacent to this property. I thought it would be an excellent property for my friends when they visited. Turns out I have more properties than friends. Well... not really, but it was so well received that I decided to extend the invite to others that might be interested in the area. It is a charming property that you can see for yourself in the pictures. It is what it is and what you make of it. I enjoy having people stay and create memories of their own and whatever I can do to make it just a little more special, I will do it. This property and the location is more than just a cabin by the lake. It's an experience.
