-Communication & responsiveness from the host was excellent. Very easy to get into the condo and all information was given well in advance.
-Unit has a garage - parking would be difficult without it. The unit is right on the beach...great views of the ocean and boardwalk. Close to shops, restaurants, bike/skate rentals, etc. Mission Beach is centrally located and it didn't take long to get to the places we wanted to see (~15-30 min) (zoo, Torrey Pines, La Jolla Cove, downtown, grocery store close (~5 minutes).
Went in early April when it was cooler in San Diego. If you opened the door to the balcony and the window in the 1st floor bedroom, you'd get a great breeze. However, the upstairs rooms could get a little warm. This especially happened in the bunk room because it was small and although you could open the sliding door to get some air in to cool it off, you wouldn't want to sleep like that or leave it open unattended because that door walks out to the roof balcony that is accessible from other units. My younger son slept on the couch because he was too warm on the top bunk.
Negatives...
-Disagree with word "luxury" to describe this condo. There is nothing special about it other than the location. More of a dated decor, minimal pillows for beds with reg pillow case, rusty things (air vents, fridge, front door frame), couches showing wear, bar stools felt sticky (more of a paint used issue than cleanliness), mstr bath door is swinging door w/no lock.
