The property is in a perfect location where you can have some in the pool, on the patio or out surfing and all be in view of each other! Sharon and all the staff were great, very helpful and friendly. I have stayed at another property on the ocean front in playa grande, but Villa Olivia was much better with amazing views.I highly recommend it!

Awesome views from all water front bedrooms and pool. We really enjoyed the location. This is the perfect place if you want to escape with some close friends. The beach was never crowded and locals very nice .. we really enjoyed the stay and will highly recommend it.

Wonderful home

Beautiful home with a superb beach location. The host was very responsive to our questions. Property is away from the hustle and bustle of the city which made it very relaxing. We had all our meals prepared by Kimberly and her staff. Food was excellent and plentiful. No one left the table hungry. It was the perfect decision to have all our meals at the house with Kimberly. Highly recommend.

Perfect beach vacation

We loved our stay at Villa Olivia!! The beachfront location, very comfortable rooms set up for couples and singles, wonderful staff for cleaning/cooking/security/maintenance, close proximity to walk to restaurants and shops in beautiful Playa Grande, all made for an outstanding time with friends.

Even better than expected

Our stay exceeded expectations. Unbeatable location is an understatement. The beach was incredible. The house was clean and well stocked. Everything functioned perfectly. The staff was attentive and cordial. We felt safe. Host was accomodating to questions and requests. The house dog was a heartwarming touch. Already contemplating a second stay.

Even better than the first time!

We stayed at Villa Olivia 17 years ago as a single family and it was paradise! Our second visit as a multi family was even better! The pool and AC in the kitchen/living room made our 7 days vacation perfect. All personnel was amazing, like the last time, very attentive to our grand kids and they were always telling us know when the German bakery truck was coming by. We had amazing waves for surfing and as usual spectacular sunsets! We dream to return again... Thank you to the Gordon family for sharing this beautiful house with us!

30th Bday Trip

Wonderful stay!! The house staff could not have been more helpful and kind. They were more than accommodating and the property was amazing! Just like the pictures. The beach out front was a wonderful surf spot and we enjoyed the sushi and drinks from just down the road! Great family vacation spot, we will be back!

Family Vacation

We had the most wonderful family vacation at Casa Olivia recently. This fantastic home is located right on the most beautiful beach. We loved the outdoor areas and the pool. The manager was a great help before our arrival and the staff on-site were wonderful. The meals cooked by Kimberly and Evelyn were highlights of the trip. We can’t wait to return.

Big Family Reunion

This property was ideal for our family reunion. We were able to rent this house and the property next door through the same owner and it was great! The staff was great and attended to our needs. The location was great and we love the house being right in the beach with easy access. The area was quiet. We would stay here again.

Amazing Relaxing Private House

Super awesome stay. House was great. AC and private bathrooms with showers in each room were key for the family we had in the house (10 total). Kimberley the housekeeper has a service where she'll cook meals for the household and they were soooooo good. Highly recommend having her make a few meals for your stay. Area was safe, private and relaxing. Easy to get to and exceeded all expectations.

Perfect place to vacation

We absolutely loved staying at Villa Olivia. We loved that it was a little secluded but also had great places to eat in walking distance. We loved the staff and the cooks were AMAZING! They were welcoming and friendly. Also one of our favorites was the watchdog who we loved on each day and she would stay right with us. For our first time out of the country(other than a cruise) this exceeded our expectations. We would definitely rent again. It has everything u could need. Thank you for making our stay wonderful.

Loved our stay, Julie and the staff were amazing

House is a touch dated, but amazing layout, tons of room!!! The rap around decks were out standing!!! Jeffery, Kimberly,Jose and the rest where awesome. Kitchen and BBQ area where great as well, kitchen has AC!!! THE VIEW AND LOCATION ARE ALL!!! TIME!!!!

Family gathering to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary.

We loved everything about our stay at Villa Oliva! The house was more beautiful than the pictures. The swimming pool was terrific. I was a little worried as it was small but is had wonderful steps into the pool and comfortable benches to lounge in the clean water. The location is lovely and the beach beautiful and not crowded. Every question or concern was immediately answered and promptly taken care of. Our family of 8 had a great stay! We highly recommend this house.

Great place for a family reunion

Property is just as described; pool and ocean were essential for beating the Guanacaste 96 degree Fahrenheit heat. Beach has great surf, too rough for the littlest kids and oldest folks but perfect for everyone in the middle to play in. Took a while to figure out where to get groceries and recommend stocking up in Liberia before you head down the coast. Listing is clear that boogie boards are available to rent from the house, wish they were included!

Gorgeous sunsets

Great location right on the beach. Leanna and Kimberly were amazing hosts and so responsive to our needs. We were surprised that room cleaning and towel replacement was another 20 each cleaning but it was easy to simply decline that service. No TP in toilets so you must throw dirty TP in the garbage cans which means a cleaning is needed every few days. Def recommend having groceries stocked for you. . throw

Amazing

We had the absolute best time at Villa Olivia. We had a group of friends for a 40th birthday trip and we all enjoyed our time here. The beach is incredible and morning walks are just beautiful. The sunsets from even the back patio are incredible, less yet out on the beach. We rented surf boards for surging and had a blast. We lounged in the pool after coming in from excursions. Restaurants were just a short walk down the road or the beach, so we took advantage of those. Kimberley cooked dinner for us one night and breakfast one morning and it was so delicious- everyone in our group was so impressed! The watchdog Morena was such a joy to have around, you can tell she is well loved by everyone! Can’t wait to bring my kids with us here next time, they will love this place as much as we did.

FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS!

We waited an extra year (like everyone else because of the pandemic) to take this trip, and it was well worth the wait! We were 8 adults, and there was plenty of room for us, everyone had privacy, it was so great to have the beach so close for those who love the beach. We had Kimberly cook a few meals for us, and they were all delicious. We wanted to bring her home to cook for us! She was also so helpful with whatever small problems we had. Everyone we came in contact with during our visit was friendly and helpful. We used YouAreCostaRica for a couple of tours, and Mariana was the best to work with! I highly recommend using them if you are in the area. If I never take another vacation I will never regret taking this one, and I would definitely come back here again!

Yes, the Mediterranean layout of the villa with the open courtyard works well for groups like yours. Thank you for not taking Kimberly home! Our first impression of the villa was a little dated and in need of some updating.

We had on amazing stay at villa Olivia !! The staff always very helpful and chef Kimberly made us 2 fantastic meals that satisfied even the fussiest eaters. We are Costa Rica supplied us with the surf boards rentals for the week and were very helpful in guiding us through playa grande. The only communication I had with the manager was through email. She was not available to us throughout our stay. The villa was quite tired looking but the location on the of the ocean was pure paradise which made up for it . We did not rent a car for our stay but had a driver for most of our transportation for excursions and to tamarindo. The walk to the water taxi is much further then described in other reviews. The locals are very friendly and always willing to help you out.

Hi Debbie, wonderful to hear your family enjoyed the vacation and what's not to love about Kimberly's cooking! Please let us know what areas of the villa could be improved. Last year we remodeled the kitchen, living room, room 5 and 3 bathrooms, as well as both interior and exterior were painted and hardwood sanded and varnished. Yes, primary communication with the property manager is via telephone or email. To explore Tamarindo, I'd give at least 45 min to walk from the northern end (2 miles) to the water taxi. Pura Vida!

Truly Beach front

We were a small yoga group staying 3 nights in early April, 2016. Feels like 10-12 could fit comfortably, so we had lots of space. Very comfortable. Beach was nicer than expected, good for wading and body or boogie boarding. Not many places to eat really close, but a 10 minute walk will get you to a couple decent places. Kimberly will cook for you for a price. It was good food, although I our group is very health conscious, and we noticed that she used some ingredients we could prefer to live without. She also charged a $30 taxi fee to pick up food, so be aware of that. There is a phone on site, which was handy, although it took me a day to know it was there. Marianela is the contact there and can help you with activities and rides, although one of the rides she set us up with tried to get another $20 out of my client at the airport, not very respectful. Overall, a really nice place.

We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Playa Grande is a small community spread out over 2. miles. There are over 12 restaurants, a is needed to get to the majority. Kimberly is very open to cooking to the needs of the group and willing to avoid ingredients when requested. The phone is located in the living room next to the sofa. I will notify Marianela of the extra money requested for the airport transfer. If Kimberly is provided transportation by a guest there is no charge. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us.

We are a family of 'water babies' born and raised on the beach shores of Santa Barbara, CA. (Of course the grand kids also have this ocean gene). Once my children (Julie, J.C, and Mark) became of an age when we could all travel my husband and I would take them during summer vacation on a surf safari to an exotic destination somewhere in the world. This was not only for fun, but to spend quality time with each other as well as to expose and educate them about different cultures and customs.

On a surfing safari to Costa Rica in '91 we instantly fell in love with the country, the kind and hospitable people, and the natural habitat. It was a paradise!! Long story short after returning to the States and raving to family and friends about this oasis a friend said he had the perfect property for our family in Playa Grande.

My husband flew down a month later and purchased the property for me as my 50th B-Day present! Over the past 17 years both my family and friends lives have been significantly enhanced by the beauty of the 'Tico' people, the natural wonders that surrounds us and the 'Pura Vida' lifestyle. This means Pure Life, an expression of contentment, happiness, and satisfaction with ones life. It's this philosophy that ranks Costa Rica as one of the happiest places in the world!!
