Paradise in Crete

This property is really beautiful and larger than it appears in the photos. The house is comfortable, stylish, well-located for trips to Chania and great beaches, and extremely well-equipped. The view is amazing! Diana, the owner, is very helpful. There was an unusual dust storm right before we arrived and Diana and her team went to great lengths to make sure everything was cleaned up (even the leaves on the plants!)

Super vacation!

The Villa was super nice, everything worked perfectly, from the check-in (which we were kindly allowed to do in the morning instead of noon) to the chech-out. Diana is very nice host, we could always reach her and she gave us good tips about beaches, restaurants and other destinations.

Simply my best stay ever.Diana was not simply a super super host but an amazing being. The property is close to the airport, old city Chania, restaurants and more. Accessing the main highways was very easy. The pool wow.And last but not least was the hidden gem outside the kitchen that was our all day sitting area, away from the sun but with a nice breeze.Honestly we did not want to leave and definitely the villa will be our home away from home when we return to Chania.The views are spectacular, the comfort is like home, the kitchen well stacked. An addition that did not appear in the pictures is a new railing for the stairs to the bedrooms.Before booking, one review that impressed me was that the pictures don’t make it justice. Well I second the motion. Thank you again Diana and regards to all.

A great place for vacation.

Villa Mariposa was a great place for vacation to my whole family, ranging from 1-63 yrs. A spacious and well-equipped house, beautiful surroundings with a wonderful view over the city and ocean. Everything was perfect except for the swimming pool which was not heated and therefore too cold for our two toddlers. I can highly recommend this place!

A few spring days in Crete

The property is wonderful and the hosts are exceptional. The basket of fruit, fresh-baked bread and property-harvested olive oil were a wonderful touch. I wish the pool was heated. The views are outstanding, the beds quite comfortable, and the kitchen well-stocked with equipment. Would definitely recommend to a large family or two.

Fantastic Villa with a view

Villa Mariposa provided everything we were looking for. Luxurious and immaculately clean villa, beautifully tended gardens, a pool big enough to swim in and the most amazing views from its hilltop position. Shops and bakery/cafe 10 minutes down the hill and Chania a short drive away. We hired a car via Stratos and Diana from the lovely Eirini at "Drive-it" and found the island easy to explore. Highly recommended and hope to come back.

Chania vacation

The property was fantastic. We spent almost as much time at the pool with a view than the great beaches. Diana, the owner, was more than helpful with anything we needed. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Chania. Driving in Chania was tough but parking in Chania is even more challenging if you are driving a small van. We really like Stavros, Parili Kalatha and Paltanis beach were great. We really enjoyed KouKouVaya for deserts.

Beautiful, luxurious house. We stayed for 7 days. Very clean, well maintained.We enjoyed the pool, the kitchen was fully equipped. Our hosts stocked the pantry & fridge with welcome items. It was very kind of them. Very close to Hania downtown, supermarket. Our hosts recommended restaurants, day trips, they were very helpful! Would go there again in a heartbeat! ❤️❤️

Wonderful Villa Near Chania

We loved our stay at Villa Mariposa. The villa is just on the outskirts of Chania and is everything it is advertised to be in the listing. We were far enough from town to relax by the pool and enjoy the view but still close enough to go in fto explore or have or dinner almost every night. Communication with the owners was easy and the villa has everything anyone would need if you want to stay in and cook too. There were several beaches nearby that we visited regularly and we took several day trips to other parts of western Crete. All in all could not have asked for anything more. Hope to come back for a longer visit next time.

Das Haus ist super ausgestattet und die Aussicht sensationell. Diana hat uns sehr nett empfangen. Ein Begrüßungskuchen stand bereit. Lovely house overlooking the sea

The house was perhaps the best part of our trip to Crete. It’s is in a great spot overlooking the bay. Quiet (apart from the cicadas) and comfortable. And close to everything you’ll need for a great family vacation There are a few things worth noting. Whilst very close to Chania the house is quite rural and this means there’s a lot of winged nature about. The cicadas can be deafening and territorial. This wasn’t an issue for us but if you’re afraid of bugs, take note! There’s an owners apartment under the house and you share a driveway. Again this wasn’t an issue for us. Diana’s parents keep to themselves but we’re also very helpful - her dad even brought us some tomatoes. They have a friendly dog, but neither imposed on us at any time

What an amazing week!

We had a fantastic week at Villa Mariposa! The house is beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable. The villa is 5km outside of downtown Chania. A perfect location for us! The villa is just out of town on a hill with an amazing view and lovely breeze. We spent our mornings having coffee on the comfy outdoor couch enjoying the spectacular view. And our evenings after a swim and dinner, on that couch with drinks - gorgeous! Don’t miss Diana’s many wonderful recommendations. Diana and her mother were terrific hosts! Diana was available to answer questions and provide recommendations. Her mother met us at the villa for a tour and left us with a stunning lemon brush cake and homemade orange jam from their garden. For Father’s Day, Diana arranged a caterer to cook an authentic Creatan meal - it was fantastic! What a treat! Don’t miss Mitsos for BBQ and Carte Postale for a lovely drink at sunset. And the beaches along the “peninsula”. The beach/cove at Zorba’s is a bit touristy, but there is beach restaurant service. Go during the week for a quieter experience. My husband and son loved swimming there. And my son’s hike to the cave was a highlight. Don’t miss the Chania Archeological Museum and Old Town Chania. I hope to return to Chania. If so, we would love to stay at Villa Mariposa! What an amazing week! Thank you Diana!

Amazing villa that is even better than the pictures

7 of us stayed at the villa for 8 nights and really enjoyed both our stay and Chania/ Crete as a whole. - The pool is even bigger than it looks and a great size, all 7 of us fit in it comfortabley - Towels are frequently changed and in general the staff are very friendly and helpful - Great extra appliances like toastie maker, coffee machine, washing machine, etc - Amazing views, from any point in the villa you can see either the sea or the mountains - Easy accessibility to a 24/hr mart within walking distance and 7 min ride into the centre of town

Leider wurde die Baustelle nebenan verheimlicht

Das Haus hat uns sehr gut gefallen, die Lage an sich, der Blick und auch die Einrichtung waren sehr gut. Die Zikaden waren leider sehr aktiv , so wurde der Gang zum Pool immer zum Kurzsprint. Aber das ist Natur. Allerdings haben wir das Objekt so ausgesucht, dass wir Ruhe haben. Leider war direkt nebenan eine Baustelle im Endstadium. Das bedeutet, dass von morgens bis abends mit Hochdruck an der Fertigstellung gearbeitet wurde. Die Einfahrt zum Tor war permanent zugeparkt, es war laut, staubig und z.T. konnten die Bauarbeiter auf den Poolbereich schauen. Leider war die Hilfsbereitschaft der Vermieter nur begrenzt. Dann hätten wir uns kurzfristig umentschieden. Unserer Bitte nach Preisnachlass wurde nicht nachgekommen, man bot uns lediglich einen Discount bei erneuter Buchung an. Einen Gang zum Anwalt haben wir uns aufgrund der zwei beteiligten Länder gespart. Fewo Direkt hat sich auch nicht gekümmert.

Magnifique villa très bien équipée. Il y a tt ce qu'il faut. La piscine est super avec des vues magnifiques sur la mer et la ville de la Canée. La villa est idéalement située à 10 min du centre ville. Enfin les hôtes sont particulièrement attentionnés et disponibles. A réserver sans hésiter.
