We've previously stayed at another cabin down the road from Bear Valley, but this year we wanted to try something different. Bear Valley provided an excellent sanctuary for my group to relax, unwind, and recover from "real life". We tubed in the Shenandoah River, played board games at night, napped in hammocks, and played yard games in the grassy yard every day. The cabin was clean, well maintained, and modern. Wifi was decent -- but obviously we're not there to surf the web. The gas grill was a real delight to use because it's hooked to the main line -- no propane tank to fuss with! Wild life was plentiful to watch, between the heron, beaver, and numerous songbirds nearby.
I found the posted notes 'real life tutorial popups' on appliances and near points-of-interest in the cabin to be helpful and not pandering. Keep that door closed, folks! The note about bugs getting in the house is true and real. The hot tub was excellent for evening socializing.
Overall, I felt well taken care of at Bear Valley and hope to return next season.
