What can I say? From the house itself to Alex (the host) and Yessenia (the housekeeper) to the wildlife that comes onto or nearby the property, this place is heaven.
The house is beautiful, as described. It has a fully outdoor kitchen, dining room, and living room. The views are as good as you get in Manuel Antonio. The bedrooms are huge, very well air-conditioned, with very comfortable beds.
The housekeeping (and everyday laundry service...thank you Yessenia!) are to die for. Adding Chef Glenda to a few breakfasts and dinners (if not all!) are also very nice. Alex was kind enough to book several activities in advance of our stay, and was easily able to meet our real time requests for groceries, take out, etc. he was also able to get us activities with less than 24 hour notice! An example was a booking with a guide to Manuel Antonio Park (Efrain) who may just be the most knowledgable guide there is. I won’t give away the reason, as you will hear the story on your guided trip to the park from Efrain himself. Is it worth the additional price? Absolutely.
We were two families of four with kids between the ages of 7-10. At first, the fact that the house is on a hillside was a little intimidating for the moms. Nonetheless, the kids did great and we were all in love with Casa Capuchin by day two forward.
The animal life is the only thing that is not described well enough in the description. We had multi-daily visits of both Capuchin and Squirrel monkey troops. I think we had over 40 squirrel monkeys on the deck at one time! The howler monkeys make a morning and evening walk across the rope just in front of the house into a tree clearly visible from the property. Three scarlet macaw parrots made a daily appearance to one of the trees in front of the property. There were also many different color birds, parakeets, etc that would visit us daily. Finally, the two highlights of the trip:
1). Having some cocktails and watching the numerous geckos hunt the insects that get too close each evening. Seriously, we were audibly rooting for them each night; and
2). The Kinkajou that was on the palm tree directly behind the pool one evening!
Overall, I don’t think a family of 8 could have stayed in a more beautiful, well-kept, more convenient, best animal life, and with the most awesome staff ever. After 8 nights there and sitting at home right now, I truly can’t wait to come back!!!
