Pacific Sunset House - Spacious Family Home With Exceptional Ocean Views

Comfortable, clean, recently renovated family home, with crashing whitewater waves, and ocean views from every room! This home features 4 bedrooms, with 3 bathrooms, a large family room, (or 5th bedroom), living room, dining room, and an upstairs and downstairs deck to relax and watch the beautiful Pacific Ocean sunsets!

A perfect home for a single family, or multiple families or friends, for vacations, reunions, and wedding receptions.
So much to do! The amazing Beach at Smith River, is a great way to spend the day, bring a picnic, and enjoy splashing in the waves, or just walking along the water's edge! Explore the nearby ancient redwood forests just minutes away. Take a stroll on one of the trails at Walker Road, or Stout Grove. Go swimming, whitewater rafting, or kayaking on the beautiful and clean Smith River. Take a fishing tour on the Smith River where Chinook Salmon and Steelhead trout flourish in the fall and winter. Or maybe a Jet Boat tour on the Klamath River or a tram ride through the forest at the Trees of Mystery, in Klamath, California.

The large ocean view yard is perfect for wedding receptions, and special events. Up to 40 daytime guests allowed, with advanced permission and approval. A fire pit with chairs is ready for making smores at night, and a deck for stargazing on a clear night. Fresh blackberries are ripe to pick and enjoy around the yard in the late summer.

The Lucky 7 Casino, House Of Howonquet Restaurant, gas station, and mini market are withing walking distance for an evening out. Conveniently located between Crescent City, California, and Brookings, Oregon, for great restaurants and exploring.

Comfortable beds and sleeping accommodations are ready for up to 12 people, with a maximum of 10 adults. There are two bedrooms with California King size beds, two bedrooms with queen size beds, one full size day bed in the multi use family room, with a single trundle bed tucked underneath it. There are 2 full twin size folding beds, and one fold out ottoman / cot size bed to use in the living room.
Advanced permission needed for more than 12 people to stay. Please make additional people request when booking or inquiring. The additional rate is $50 per day for each additional person, over the 12 person limit. No charge for infants and babies under 3 years old, who are sharing a room and / or bed with their parents.

Lots of places to just relax and enjoy the sound of the ocean waves and lovely views too!

This home was the perfect place for our wedding reception/dinner! Rhonda went above and beyond to answer any questions we had and even helped us get tables and chairs for the dinner. The art and decor she has around the home was absolutely stunning. The ONLY thing “wrong” with this home is that it was a bit dirty. There was white dog hair on the stairs, underneath the couches had literal dust balls, and the comforters on the beds had stains on them. We do not care about a pristine home, as we are just not those kind of people. Overall 10/10 stars and would come back or recommend to a friend!

It was a nice home and great for all our family to enjoy. It was close to the ocean and in a beautiful area. We would suggest adding some things for the kids to do. More games, outside equipment for them to play on. All in all it was a nice stay.

Absolutely Amazing

Property was just as described. Very well stocked with kitchen items. Three kurig coffee pots plus a regular 12 cup. The view was beautiful and having coffee on decks was magical. We used the fire pit a couple of times. Conveniently located to River, beaches and Redwood Park. We loved our stay. Host was the best!!

We had a great family vacation here. The house was more than big enough with enough beds and bathrooms- it had the most towels available of any rental I have ever stayed in- it was great! It was close to beaches and the redwoods. The kids loved that there was a piano there and games available.

Great location

We had our annual family getaway and picked this lovely house to spend our 3 days together. The house was easy to find. There are plenty of beds for everyone. The kitchen is stocked well. The dining room table was great for all of us adults to sit and visit at while the kids played in the HUGE backyard. You can see the ocean from every back window of the house. If there were a negative, it would be that the furniture in the living room was too low for taller folks. (We are all 5"8 and taller. 6"5 being the tallest)It is a great house and we enjoyed it.

Overall good

Thank you Rhonda for letting us use your space to host a family reunion! The rooms were overall good, though one of the bed frames did break (again it appears since it was taped together) while we were there, just by sitting on it...Furniture is a bit old and we were all pretty nervous about the rules of making sure everything was in the right place. But the outdoor space is huge and glorious and made it so worth it.

The property was super nice with a great view and the host answered all questions quickly and went out of her way to gather more tables and chairs for the event. I wasn’t a huge fan of the event fee that we paid but I partially understand and I will say that only having the one key for the house was a bit of a pain. All around a good place and we had fun during our stay. Also, the kitchen bedroom was a little less than ideal but does its job.

Family Redwood & Ocean Getaway

The house was wonderfully decorated. It is better than the pictures. It was nice to have a piano & large table for our Thanksgiving celebration. The location is prime for exploring beaches and forests.

Nice farmhouse, easy to find, could be cleaner and some carpet would help dampen the noise. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking stuff, the piano wasn’t necessary

Most well stocked VRBO ever

We had six people staying in the house and it accommodated all of us beautifully. The house was the most well-stocked house we’ve ever stayed in on VRBO. Centrally located with easy access to both CA and OR I would highly recommend staying here.

We had a couple extra people than the place listed but she accommodated us perfectly. We had quite a few teenagers so she provided a couple extra small beds for them. The kitchen was well stocked with any dish or utensil you could imagine using. We enjoyed the pirepit

A Great Stay!

Our group of 9 adult family members all agreed this home was comfortable and relaxing. Due to an unusual heat wave in the west, the weather here was absolutely amazing! Crystal clear and pleasantly warm every day. We couldn't think of a single item we needed that wasn't provided, and we really appreciated (and contributed to) the left-over spices cupboard. Had a great barbeque lunch our last day, the perfectly located gas grill worked flawlessly. Good communication through the app with host Rhonda easily took care of a couple of minor issues. Great place, great stay, highly recommend.

2,100 SQ FT is well thought out - 1 week with a family of 12. Exceeded expectations

Summary: I was pleasantly surprised by how well thought out this home is. I was concerned that 12 people (8 adults, 4 teens) could not be comfortable in 2,100 SQ FT. However, the 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths upstairs are well appointed and comfortable. The addition of a sink and coffee center in the hallway is genius. It allowed for people upstairs to make a cup of coffee early without having to be concerned about waking anyone downstairs. We had family sleeping in the 5th bedroom downstairs (living room with built in stylish screen. A 3/4 bath and laundry are located nearby. We enjoyed the gas grill, fire pit, full fridge and bonus wine fridge! The kitchen is plentiful, we found the appliances, cookware, dishes, and utensils needed. This property is near everything. It was so easy to take a short drive and be in the redwoods or at the beach. This home exceeded my expectations and I'm grateful we found it and that the host was so accommodating.

When I first decided to rent my property as a vacation home in the summer, I imagined it to be a place where friends and families could come from different locations to share time together in a relaxed and comfortable home setting. So far, this home has exceeded my imagined expectations, and has become just what I had hoped, for your friends and family, as well as mine!

I am forever enchanted by the crashing wave views of the Pacific Ocean, and I fell in love with the peaceful area, and the nearby giant redwood forests. The Tudor style of the home reminds me of a storybook cottage, on the edge of the forest, looking out at the ocean waves, and the sunsets are spectacular!
After purchasing the property in 2019, it took two years, and a lot of hard work and perseverance to completely remodel the interior from top to bottom, and to repair and paint the exterior, but I am very happy with the results! I hope you are too!

This unique home is set on over an acre of property, with an unbelievable, and unobstructed, ocean views from every room in the house, and the sunset view over the Pacific Ocean is different every day, and there is plenty of space to wander and explore.
It is centrally located between Crescent City, California, and Brookings, Oregon, where the Smith River meets the Pacific Ocean.
There are old growth redwood groves within a 10 minute drive of the property, and a beautiful Pacific beach extending from the Mouth of the Smith River to the Oregon Border, with easy, free parking, and access to The Beach at Smith River, just a 2 minute drive away.
Activities in the area include fishing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting on the Smith River, as well as many nearby hiking, and biking trails, to be enjoyed during your stay.
The Smith River is known to be the 3rd cleanest river system in the world, has no dams, is home to world class salmon and steelhead fishing, and you can keep your catch!
As an added bonus, The Lucky 7 Casino and Hotel is within walking distance from the property, and offers a full service bar and restaurant, and games, with a gas station, mini mart, and liquor store right across the street.
There are many great reasons to visit the beautiful Smith River area! The area has so much to offer. Come and explore!
