Gorgeous Central Russell Vintage 1920's Cottage

Come and relax in our wonderful vintage cottage which we have lovingly restored and renovated over the past ten years.

Decorated with vintage furniture, crockery and artwork with the modern necessities of a 65-inch LED television, DVD, Sky TV, iPod docker and Nespresso machine.

Sit on our sunny deck under the massive old pear tree and admire the birdlife!
Resident weka, tui, keruru, kingfisher and more have made our orchard garden home.

Russell wharf and shops are less than five minutes away so you can easily walk to the cottage from the ferry. Located at the town end of Matauwhi Road, close to Christ Church.

Perfect location for guests attending weddings & those who want to be amongst the action of vibrant Russell as you can park your car and forget it for the duration of your stay.

Master bedroom with queen size bed,
Twin bedroom with a double bed & a king single bed.
And a lovely sunny double room make up our accommodation.

Nightly rental is for five people.

Ideally suited for couples, or families with older children over 10 years.
Special conditions:
Smoking allowed outside only & sorry no pets!

This home is used extensively and is much loved by its owners.
Please make yourselves at home, enjoy your stay but please look after her as you would your own home.

Furthermore, we request no extra guests (other than by agreement), no parties, loud music or tents.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition we would prefer you to bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels), however we are happy to supply.

Really cute yet spacious house right in centre of Russell within 3 minute walk of the seafront. We loved being able to visit the museums and restaurants, wharf and supermarket on foot. We also enjoyed the 20 minute walk to Long Beach and the walking tracks to Flagstaff Hill.The cottage was very homely and comfortable and the kitchen exceptionally well stocked.The huge deck and garden were wonderful added bonuses.Thank you to Carrie for being so accommodating, helpful and communicative both before and during our stay!

Our happy place

We have been holidaying in Russell for several years and were not disappointed with this character property, which has been thoughtfully renovated. It is an easy 2-minute walk to the waterfront and high street. Carrie was great to deal with, and we would definitely stay there again.

Charming Cottage

Carrie’s cottage has everything you need to feel comfortable and right at home. Fabulous location. Easy walk to historic Russell’s shops and waterfront dining. Quick drive to beautiful Long Beach for swimming and beachcombing. The Russell Boating Club at the end of Matauwhi St has fantastic food and views. We loved chilling out on Carrie’s deck.

Quaint Cottage

What a delightful cottage! Clean and comfortable, with charming, slightly quirky décor that is quite enchanting. The kitchen is modern, spacious, and well stocked with saucepans etc if you wish to cook, but it is an easy walk to Russell restaurant, shops, and waterfront. The bathroom is small but efficient and has been nicely updated. I hope we have another opportunity to stay!

This cottage is gorgeous! Well situated within the town, easily walkable from the ferry. Charming decor and comfortable seating. The property views are delightful with a wide variety of fruit trees and visiting birds. Kitchen is well equipped, and everything worked as described. Road seemed to be a bit of a thoroughfare, so not silent, but not annoying either. Would definitely stay here again!

We arrived just after a huge storm and everything was well in order but just a minor thing due to the weather there were a lot of smashed pears on the footpath we had to clear to get our luggage in. Otherwise all great!

Great place and excellent location. Unfortunately it rained for most of the week we were there so it was great to have a big tv with Sky television. The modern kitchen and appliances were also great. The place is child friendly and my two little ones (2 years old) enjoyed running up the hilly back garden. The bird life was fantastic, especially seeing a Weka! It was a very comfortable stay, almost like staying at families - which to our surprise, it turned out we were related :)

This was our second stay at Number Five cottage and we loved it just as much as the first time.

This was our second stay at Number Five cottage and we loved it just as much as the first time. The layout is great which easily accommodates our family of six. We enjoyed seeing the changes/renovations from our last stay which have only enhanced the cottage's character. The cottage is well-equipped and only a short walk into town.

Our family love hosting guests in our happy holiday home. We have slowly renovated to cottage to what it is today. We bought it many years ago as we loved the handy location to Russell, the large orchard garden with many very old fruit trees and the very happy vibe the home had even prior to the renovations. It was previously owned by a long-standing Russell family whose height measurements still stand on the lounge doorway frame.
