Crested Butte is a year-round destination: skiing and snowshoeing in winter, world-class mountain biking (the birthplace of mountain biking) and wildflower hiking in summer, and some of Colorado's best fall color in September.
The free town shuttle connects the base area to downtown Crested Butte, so guests can leave the car parked and still reach Elk Avenue for dinner.
Getting Around:
A car is convenient for trips to downtown Crested Butte, area trailheads, and the Gunnison airport — and for guests with dogs heading to off-leash trails. Free parking is included (1 pass per room) in the lot adjacent to the building, with EV charging available.
If you'd rather leave the car parked, the free town shuttle stops directly outside the lodge and runs to downtown Crested Butte every 15 minutes. The base area coffee shop, restaurants, and ski lifts are all a 2-minute walk from the front door — no car needed for an on-mountain stay.
From Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC), the drive is about 45 minutes. Alpine Express runs a shared shuttle from GUC for guests flying in.
