Punga Heights Cabin is located in the picturesque Marlborough Sounds, and only a 30 minute drive from Havelock, or just over an hour from Blenheim.

It is a cosy modern two bedroom off-grid cabin nestled amongst the punga and native bush, the perfect place to rest, relax and recharge, surrounded by nature.

The warm north facing cabin contains all the essential items for your stay, including queen size beds where you can drift off to sleep to the call of the Morepork; an inside living space with a snug sitting area and a supply of books and games; and an outdoor deck where you can soak up the sights and sounds of coastal life, cook on the bbq, and chill out on the beanbags.

Set on a property with a variety of flora and fauna, and tranquil views of Mahau Sound, Punga Heights Cabin is the ideal base for your stay in the Marlborough Sounds. Spend your days enjoying the cabin and its grounds or on the beach, using the kayaks or dinghy; or adventure further afield, returning each night for a restful sleep.

Your hosts, Vaughan and Tracey both love the Marlborough Sounds and want to share their perfect punga paradise with others. Purchasing this property early 2023 they've since poured their love and time into creating Punga Heights Cabin, its amenities and enhancing the landscape.

Having worked and lived in the outer Pelorus Sound for several years farming, Vaughan knew that he'd love to call this area home again in the future, albeit part-time. He loves getting out on the water fishing, camping and hunting on the land, as often as he can.

Tracey grew up with the Marlborough Sounds on her doorstep, staying, kayaking, fishing and diving throughout much of the sounds over the years. She doesn't get out on or in the water as much these days but really appreciates the relaxation of sitting and appreciating the sights and sounds that surround.

Having looked throughout the Marlborough Sounds for a place to purchase we settled on Moetapu Bay because of its warm north-facing properties, its close proximity to Blenheim, and it being drive access.

We selected this section for its punga and variety of plants and trees, wee creek, existing dwelling, the properties potential, and of course the views. Being protected from the wind, and getting plenty of sunlight, the large property was exciting from the very first glimpse online.

The Punga Heights Cabin provides a chance to relax and recharge in a warm cosy off-grid cabin nestled amongst the punga and native bush. It offers the unique experience of an outdoor shower and composting toilet in the bush. The punga track is a super special feature and makes the walk to the beach easier on the legs and the eyes too!
