We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Initially, we shared some of the same concerns as others—there’s no big sandy beach right in front, and it’s a 15-30 minute walk to many restaurants. The listing suggests you’ll need a car for the best experience, but we found that wasn’t necessary at all. If you’re traveling on a budget, just walk one block to catch any of the three buses that run along Seven Mile Beach on West Bay Road. For only 2.50, they arrive in less than 10 minutes and operate like taxis, stopping when you hail them, until around 7 p.m.We’ve visited during some of the busiest times of year—Christmas, February winter break, and spring break—and I enjoyed staying here far more than at the Sunrise Suites or the Westin! We always had access to chairs by the pool, umbrellas, and excellent swimming and snorkeling right in front of the property. While the beach is rocky, there’s a ladder that lets you climb straight into fantastic snorkeling waters. My husband especially appreciated not having to wake up at 6 a.m. to reserve chairs, like he did at the Westin. It was peaceful, quiet, and perfect. The pool was never crowded—just a few people daily, and only a few kids. There’s also a fantastic and reasonably priced Irish bar across the street, which was great for watching sports, a steak house and tie place. The location is ideal—close enough to the busier parts of the area to be convenient but far enough away to feel peaceful.
