A rustic but very comfortable cottage in one of the best spots on Peaks with a lovely view.It was a nice balance of character and charm, and comfort. Access to the private beach was was an added bonus. Mea culpa for not realizing that we needed to arrange linens separately and that there was no washer and driers. But owners made everything right for us. I appreciated their concern and help in fixing the situation. Bottom line, the perfect island experience.

Amazing Island Getaway

Wow my wife and I loved our stay!! We walked and visited different parts of Portland but coming back to the island was always the best part. The loop around the outside has beautiful coastal views and the forested trails inside the island kept bringing new surprises. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing home right on the ocean! The location could not be beat. A private beach is just a few steps away and the house was great. Awesome family room and a big screen tv to boot! The kitchen was well equipped and the huge wrap around deck was awesome to sit and look at the water. Very close to the center of town, too. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay!

Gorgeous spot on Peaks

This home is in a peaceful and gorgeous spot on Peaks Island. The big deck overlooking the water is fantastic, and the sun room with TV was also a hit.

Windswept little cottage with amazing views

The house was cute, comfortable, charming; perfect for two of us and for another visiting couple. The host couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Walking distance to the village, walking distance to Seashore Road; a total pleasure in every way. We plan to return.

Wonderful stay on Peaks

Our family had a great time here. We loved the location (private road, easy bike ride to town, beach access, views!) and the house had plenty of space for us (6 in all). The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking (and the island grocery store had everything we needed), we enjoyed making puzzles once the sun was down, and we took the kayaks out as well. The porch was a big highlight - we spent a lot of time out there and ate most meals outside. Great sunset-viewing from here too. Definitely recommend this home!

- Incredible views - Amazing sunsets to the left and sunrises to the right - Super friendly neighbors - Loved exploring the pathways around the houses - Look for the art cart with the amazing photos and photo cards at the top of the hill - Dinner at the Cockeyed Gull on the outdoor deck with the sun setting in the background is a great way to end the day!

Location, Location, Location!

What a gem! Views and private beach area were super and very conducive to relaxation. Nice options of activities in area--sea kayaking company on island, bike rental on island, easy access to ferry to venture into Portland. Only negative was the "rustic" nature of the cottage--oven was neglected in the cleaning process, lots of dust bunnies under furniture, fresh stain on placemat from previous renters.

58 Evergreen

This cottage is a well-maintained "traditional" summer cottage overlooking Diamond Island Passage at the end of Island Avenue on Peaks. The cottage has been updated with new windows and fresh paint, has a functional and well-equipped kitchen, indoor and porch-based dining areas and comfortable living spaces. Strong wifi, nice TV and access to a sandy beach make this cottage special. Eric and brother Scot are terrific, responsive hosts who respond to questions quickly and they were very helpful orienting us to the cottage and environment. The location is generally private and quiet, and the island lends itself to biking. I absolutely recommend this cottage and the hosts. Many Thanks!

Fantastic spot for family vacay!

What a way to introduce my family to the beauty of Maine. The cottage was the perfect spot for our family vacation. It's at the end of a quiet road and offers views of Casco Bay and Great Diamond. Our kids loved that we could walk down to the private beach, either to swim or embark on a quest for sea glass and shells. My husband and I fell in love with the wide porch, where we'd start our mornings with hot coffee and a good book. The owner was helpful and attentive, and the check-in process couldn't have been easier... especially after a long drive with young kids. Although the cottage is a bit of a hike from the ferry, my husband and I made the walk while our kids rode their bikes. Later in the week, we rented bikes so we could explore the ocean-side of the island -- how gorgeous! Our family definitely recommends this property as an option for your Peaks vacation!

Historic Peak’s Island Cottage

Sweet little cottage. Plenty of hot water despite only 1 BR. Nice, quiet location. Owner very helpful in getting us more blankets - quite chilly and no heating. Be sure to bring your own linens - did not see that fine print in the listing and owner graciously arranged a linen service. Kitchen very basic with no spices except Salt and Pepper, or coffee filters, etc. so plan to buy/bring everything with you. Used the gas grill. Owner helped us with an extension cord to their next door house to charge our golf cart. Nice stay

Thank you for your review. Our goal is to make sure everyone has a great stay. The review was confusing as they refer to one BR in Real estate language that usually refers to bedroom. To clarify it is a two bedroom cottage with one bathroom. I will try and make it clear about the linens although it does state it in the listing. We do not want to be a laundry service and we feel it makes it a cleaner, safer and more comfortable Experience if people bring their own linens and towels. The property is professionally cleaned between each rental. The property is not just a rental it is our family summer home and it is important to us to provide a clean safe place for all . We hope to see you back next summer. Thank you

Million dollar views from porch

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! We spent almost all of our time on the porch and just couldn’t get enough! Had a lobster bake one evening and every breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the table on porch. We played lots of card games, & read many books. I brought my own hammock as the porch had the S hooks for one. The beds were all very comfortable- firm, but had some memory foam give. They supplied plenty of fans (5) which we used all over the house and having no AC on main floor was never an issue-plenty of breezes and shade. Def bring bug spray at night, though. Breezy nights- the bugs were less of an issue, of course. Kitchen was a bit disorganized but we made it work to our liking and was no issue at all. It had all the dishes, serving platters, glasses (plentiful) and pots/pans we needed. I bought a few kitchen utensils & left them there (plastic spatula, plastic spoon etc..). There were only a few hangers so I’d recommend bringing those if you want to hang things. I rated the cleanliness low but that is more about the usual bugs, ants… but to be expected for a Peaks Island cottage. Didn’t bother me, but wanted to be honest. My whole family is interested in Eric’s other rentals and we plan to stay again! Hopefully longer this time! A little hike from ferry dock/town but I loved being away from the hustle & bustle! I’d recommend this cabin to anyone!

We had a great stay here at Shorehaven. Very easy to get on and off Peaks and the house is just a short distance from the ferry terminal. We loved heading to the private beach everyday and collecting beach glass. Our family really enjoyed our stay here.

location,location,location!!

We have stayed on Peaks for over 15 years every summer with a family of 6. This home, despite being a tad small for 6, was perfect this summer for us. The private beach, use of kayaks, super friendly & helpful neighbor (one of the owners), and front porch with hammock was KEY. We biked or drove to downfront whenever necessary. A long walk...but great for people who like to walk/excercise like me. The sunporch was perfect for watching a movie and for 2 to share the pullout couch (FULL/queen). This home is private due to the dead end its on. GREAT YARD AND BBQ area.

BEST VRBO WE'VE STAYED AT

The cottage is the perfect location on Peaks Island. Quiet, peaceful with beautiful water views. The home was immaculate, beds were all very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked. The owners were phenominal to deal with... answered all of our questions and helped us with everything we asked for! The location is perfect... private beach with loads of wildlife right out the front door. Everything was set up and ready for us. Parking was easy. I can't say enough how beautiful the location is! This is a must stay... our favorite VRBO rental ever!!!!

Wonderful experience! Wish I was still there.

We really had a great time, there were six of us and the accommodations were wonderful. The view is absolutely spectacular. The owners are so willing to do anything to make your stay more comfortable. I would give it a five star rating if it was possible. They were plenty of things to do nearby and there is parking there. And there’s also plenty of dishes and kitchen supplies. Definitely want to come back next year.
