Creekside Madera Canyon Cabin close to Trailheads for hiking and birdwatching

Relax on the deck overlooking a creek in this recently renovated 1 Bdr 556 square foot cabin in Madera Canyon, AZ, surrounded by the Coronado National Forest. Full kitchen. Property is walking distance to trailheads, picnic areas and favorite birdwatching spots.

If you are traveling with friends, please check out my property next door that sleeps 4. It's called Madera Canyon home w/spectacular mountain view.

Please note: There is no TV reception (we do have a dvd player). Satellite Internet is provided (but may be slower than you are used to and is subject to weather outages). This is a remote property. Your cell phone will have limited connectivity in the canyon (Verizon works best, but we suggest you set up wifi calling on your phone). While there are two gift stores in the canyon, the next closest businesses are 15 miles away. I recommend you get gas and stop at the grocery store before you drive into the canyon.

Please note: There is NO washing machine on the premises.

Well equipped, great for 2 people. This is the perfect place for Madera Canyon birding! Feeders are provided and I saw so many species just by sitting on the back deck! It was the perfect spot for my spring birding trip!

Perfect Retreat

This is a beautiful property and the perfect place for one or two people to enjoy nature, birding and hiking. We highly recommend 6 Susie Lode Lane.

Doubly perfect

The location is doubly perfect (for nature lovers). It's a great place to relax (very quiet at night) and observe birds, and it's close to areas in the desert where we do behavioral research on insects. Two weeks seemed like too short of a time to stay.

Hiking and Birding

This cabin is quite comfortable for two. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials. The hiking is right out the front door and the canyon is full of birds. We've rented it for the past 3 years.

Fantastic!

I had a wonderful stay here in May 2025. The owner provided super clear instructions for checking in/out. There seemed to be a new paved driveway that went right up to the property, which was within spitting distance of the Mt. Wrightson trailheads. The property was clean and exactly as described online. It was a very convenient location for walking all over Madera Canyon, and I couldn't be happier that I stayed here over one of the crowded lodges elsewhere in the canyon.

Nice mountain visit with family

We rented the property because it was co-located with another of the owner’s properties nearby. Our nephew and his spouse stayed the weekend. The cabin is nicely furnished and the location is superb next to a babbling brook. It was spotless and ever worked. Being located in a national forest, the cabin is near many hiking trails and is a fun place for outdoor people.

Marvelous!

This is a little jewel! It is so clean. Everything you need or want in the way of books, maps, entertainment is provided. Saw some wildlife, turkeys, coatamundis and lots of birds. We are definitely coming back for birthdays and other special occasions. Very relaxing, right in the middle of the forest. Can't say enough about this treasure.

Cozy canyon getaway

What a gem! The cabin is perfectly appointed for rustic comfort. We were there for a week in which it rained, snowed and hailed but we were warm and entertained between storms by the abundant birdlife coming in to the feeders. Clean, well kept, lovely. All our Tucson friends were surprised and delighted by this sweet find in the canyon. Thank you so much!

Comfy base camp for birding

You can not beat the location if you are a birder. Next to the Kubo and Santa Rita birdfeerders! You have the luxury of your own porch where you can put out seed and hummer feeders (we brought our own). Madera Canyon is a birding mecca and it was great to make birding runs and then come back for our own bathroom and deck. Owner has provided everything you need. I would recommend arriving and then food shopping if possible. Green Valley Safeway is 20 min away (unless you keep stopping to get that new bird). Major tip: once you have fully paid you will get your lockbox combo - WRITE IT DOWN. There is no wifi until you are inside - which is more than adequate - but you are stuck outside if you don't have the combo to the lock. Thank you Molly for your patience!!!

A nice creekside retreat

This is a modernized creekside cabin, beautifully furnished inside, somewhat rustic outside, with a porch/balcony that overlooks a creek. A great place for morning coffee, with deer, turkeys, squirrels keeping you company. Quiet, relaxing, everything needed for a pleasant stay. Close to birds, hiking, mountain views. Excellent value.

Lovely Getaway

This cozy little red house is perfect for two. The kitchen is well equipped. There is plenty of information on the area, hiking and birding. If the weather keeps you inside there is a variety of books and movies available. Hanging bird feeders on the deck provides bird entertainment. During our stay, four varieties of hummingbirds came to the feeders and an Elegant Trogon was heard and spotted from the deck. The hiking trails are right outside the door. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, as always, and recommend this sweet little red cabin!

This is the perfect cozy cabin for folks who want to hike or just relax in crisp Madera Canyon air. This creekside cabin has been updated with a new kitchen and bathroom, and offers everything yuh ou might want for a relaxing vacation. Just a few hundred yards up the road puts you at some of Arizona's best hiking trailheads, for exploration of old mines and springs, spectacular vistas, and the magnificent 9600' Mt. Wrightson.

Private gateaway with birds, birds and more birds

Quiet, Private and all the amenities of home. Just bring food to cook and relax ! limited celphone signal and WiFi. Excellent photographic opportunity. Coming back next year.

WOW, Great Place

WOW. what a great place for two people. Newly remodeled interior is warm and comfortable. The kitchen area is well equipped with almost any utensil needed. A very nice deck to sit, watch and listen to nature. We saw wild turkey and deer from the deck plus lots of birds. Bird feeders are available in cabin. Wed took a trip down to Tubac to visit galleries an to have lunch. We also took a day trip to Tombstone, AZ. Plan for next trip will be the winery tour. So, bring your suit cases, food and enjoy a wonderful time in Madera Canyon. Ed and Marie

I spent summers in Tucson, Arizona with my grandparents as a little girl. They had a small cabin in Madera Canyon - one of only a handful of private homes - and my sister and I loved going there on the weekends and playing in the creek or hiking the trail to Mt. Wrightson. As an adult I have returned to visit my grandparents many times with my children to introduce them to the jewel that is Madera Canyon. The photo is of my grandfather playing with my kids in the creek below the cabin.

My sister and I inherited this property when my grandfather passed away in 2011. This was the original weekend cabin we stayed in. My grandfather had not maintained the cabin as it was only used occasionally after he built his retirement home next door. In 2018, I started a renovation project so the cabin could continue to be enjoyed.
