Captain's Hideaway in Deer Park, Newberry, The Official Moose Capital of Michigan, offers a spacious layout that will accommodate up to 10 guests in utmost comfort. This 4 bedroom, 3 full bath home overlooking spectacular Lake Superior is every vacationer's dream. Spend your days hunting for agates on the beaches of Lake Superior, beach access is simply a few steps away from the back porch. If relaxing indoors is more your speed, spend the day lounging in the 4 season room that overlooks miles and miles of unobstructed views of Lake Superior. Lake Muskallonge is a short walk from the property and boasts terrific inland fishing, boating and much more! Grand Marais, MI is a short drive 18 miles west and is the eastern Gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The North Country Trail is accessible from the beach for endless miles of hiking or go fishing in the famous Two Hearted River. Trail maps are available in the house or download AllTrails app. Bring your clubs for golfing at beautiful Newberry Country Club. A stay at Captain's Hideaway will truly refuel your soul and provide unparalleled memories for years to come.

We spent a couple days here in November and it was an awesome stay. The house is right on the lakeshore, and everything was as described. It was reasonably clean and very comfy! Any questions we had were answered promptly by the host and we didnt have any problems with access...or anything else for that matter. We visit the UP often and look forward to staying here again- this is one of the nicest places we have found up there when we arent camping. Awesome place!

We loved our stay stay at Captains Hideaway. The house was very clean and all amenities were provided. The location was superb, hardly saw another person on the shoreline. Our host was Elyse and she was very responsive to any questions we had. I would highly recommend.

Beautiful lakeshore stay

We loved staying here. Incredible location, beautiful beach, and lots to do in the area. The house is very well-stocked and has ample room for family. Wonderful!

Absolutely loved walking on the rocky shore and playing with all the beautiful rocks! One day Lake Superior was calm as glass and another she was quite wild and we were alone on the beach! The house has lots of good space and beautiful views, small dirt road getting to it and once you get past slippery rock at the beach it is amazing! Would go back!

Great house and even better location! Owners super responsive and were able to accommodate all our needs. Well stocked we never needed anything. Would totally stay here again if in the area.

Loved our stay

We loved our stay here! The property was clean and had most of what we needed. Our favorite things were going to the beach and rock hunting and going to the Uglyfish bakery every morning! Thank you for a great stay!

Beautiful location

We loved staying here -- the location was amazing. The house was well stocked and had lots of "extras," including hot sauces, coffee, and more. We're looking forward to returning next year.

We booked looking for snow and ended up driving here during a blizzard. Elyse was the most incredible VRBO host I’ve ever had. She gave us a place to stay in St. Ignace when it got too icy to complete our drive up here. Then the next day kept in constant contact as we drove 30 mph the rest of the way to get here before the bulk of the storm dumped all the snow. Then after we did get stuck only four houses away, she assured us help would be here to dig us out. And they did! Before we arrived, we stopped in Newberry for a very quick grocery run at the incredibly friendly Rahilly’s IGA and once got up here chose not to leave again. When Elyse showed up near the end of our stay she brought us a pizza for supper because our groceries were dwindling. Pine Stump pizza! So good! The next day, she and her Superhero son helped dig us out a second time because snow kept falling throughout the week. They are the kindest and loveliest people. We didn’t have any troubles with the house. There’s a generator in case the power goes out. The bed was warm and comfy. The shower was warm and great. The kitchen was very well stocked with seasonings and extras and pots and pans one might need. We will be so sad to leave this house with its incredible views. Cannot wait to come back in the summer and then again in the winter. Thank you for sharing this property with all of us.

Captain’s Hideaway is a dream come true. The UP is amazing for all outdoor activities. From scuba diving to shooting. Close to exciting activities such as Oswald’s Bear Ranch. Walk to Muskallonge State Park, a good place for moose sightings. So many amazing day trips such as Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks or Mackinac Island. The North Country Trail, the longest in the National Trail System stretching 4,700 miles from North Dakota to Vermont runs along the back of the property. 30 minute drive to Newberry Country Club for golf& dining. You can make a bonfire on the beach at night while searching for agates and Yooperlites. We hope you enjoy this home as much as we do. Do not hesitate to contact any of us with questions.
