Charming cabin nestled in the woods, offering a private hot tub for relaxation. Enjoy a short walk to Sugar Pine State Park, bike all the way to Tahoe City, or simply savor the tranquil forest atmosphere. This welcoming home boasts all the Tahoe essentials, including a gas fireplace in the living room, front and back patios, and convenient access to beaches, trails, and premier mountain resorts.

Situated in a peaceful Tahoma neighborhood, you'll find miles of biking and hiking trails to explore in the summer, along with snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter. You're nearby family friendly restaurants, a deli and market, and a short drive to lakeside favorite: Chambers Landing Bar and Grill.

The main floor features an open-concept living area and an updated kitchen. Cozy up next to the beautiful gas fireplace while enjoying the stylish furnishings and decor throughout. The south-facing front patio is perfect for sipping your morning coffee or curling up with a good book.

With ample space for six guests, the main floor includes the primary bedroom, a hall bathroom, and the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Upstairs, you'll find two additional bedrooms—one with a queen bed and the other with a double bed and two twin beds—along with a shared hallway bathroom.

Location:
Tahoma offers access to beautiful beaches, biking and hiking as well as being minutes away from the Chambers Landing Bar and Grill, which is located next to a nice sandy public beach. Or venture a few miles south to Sugar Pine Point State Park to enjoy fishing, sandy beaches, historic tours and more hiking trails. In winter you will enjoy being close to popular ski resorts and snow shoeing trails. We are also only 7 miles from Tahoe City (15 minutes), where you can enjoy more restaurants, beaches and shopping. Please visit our website and follow our “Tahoe Guide” with updated things to do in your specific area.

Parking:
Parking is available for 3 cars total. All cars must park on the driveway. No street parking per county ordinance.
Prepare for mountain or winter weather driving in winter months. This may mean Four wheel drive with snow tires or chains. Check weather or road reports. AWD and 4WD necessary to get up the mountain roads and some driveways in the winter months.

Other things to Note:
* Renters must be 25+
* This is a non-smoking home.
* Pets are not allowed at this home.
* Maximum Occupancy per county ordinance is 6 guests ages 6 and up.
* Use of the BBQ and outdoor furniture is not guaranteed in winter months, due to limited access.
* Your safety matters. This property ,may features exterior security cameras. The cameras are outward facing and do not look into interior spaces. The cameras will continuously record video and sound while guests are in residence.

The Knotty Bear was a gem! The cabin had everything we needed and more. We loved the modern kitchen, cool AC units in each bedroom, automatic fire place for cozy nights and a stellar hot tub.We found the Knotty Bear to be a sparkling clean and a relaxing and comfortable stay in a beautiful, forested neighborhood.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found it easy to use the house to entertain our daughter’s family, including two pre-teens. We’ll-stocked, clear instructions, very clean, so that we could “concentrate” on our vacation time!

Nice place

House was nice. It was a little warm during our stay, so no AC was a tad uncomfortable during the day. Neighborhood was quiet. Upstairs bathroom is in one of the bedrooms, so that was a little awkward for our family. But overall we enjoyed the stay.

Well Kept Home in a natural surrounding

Our family had a wonderful stay at this property. The moment we stepped in we loved it right away. Had everything we needed. You can tell the owner put a lot of thought into it (ex: heater/ac unit in each room). It rained the whole weekend but we made the best of it in a great property. Tahoma is a wonderful place to stay if you want to get away from crowds and tourists. The fancy hot tub was a big plus !

House was clean, area was great 2 min drive from the lake, bunch of family board games, customer service was great. We loved it everything about it and also we had a little visitor (bear) on Friday.

beautiful house and location

our last vacation in California, but was probably the best. There were bears at the door on Saturday morning, but they scattered when I ran to take a picture. mamma bear and two cubs.

Enjoyed our time at Tahoe!

We very much enjoyed our stay! The house was updated and clean and was very warm and welcoming. Our daughters loved the doll house in the upstairs bedroom which kept them entertained for hours. Our only disappointment was that the house had a new hot tub (that looked amazing!) but we were not allowed to use it. Also I would have greatly appreciated access to some beach equipment such as beach towels, beach chairs, etc. since we did not fly out with these items from Chicago. After communicating with management, I was told the house had beach towels but I could not locate them. Overall we had a great stay and we would definitely come back in the future if we make it to Tahoe again.

half of a rental

The place was relatively clean except for the persistent smell of body odor on the beds and blankets. The biggest disappointment was that there was no useable furniture outside. Two picnic tables were there but they were broken into pieces. There were no chairs, no leaves or branches were raked, no propane tank for the bbq. So, the weather was beautiful but we could not enjoy sitting, eating or drinking outside of the home...something we had hoped for. We paid to rent the entire home but only could use half, the inside. In fairness, we should be given a refund for not being able to use the outside of the home since it is advertised in that manner. Last point, VRBO rentals are getting out of hand with "cleaning fees" and "cleaning instructions". This owner had a long list of cleaning instructions for the guests "strip beds, load washing machine, load dishwasher, wipe down counters, take out trash..." which would be fine except that they are charging a hefty cleaning fee. So, they want us to clean and also to pay someone else to clean -- this practice is wrong. You can't have it both ways; either I pay someone to clean or I do it. I don't get penalized for not cleaning my hotel room or bed and breakfast room...so, why should VRBO be able to continue charging for this practice? The location of the home was nice. Neighborhood was quiet. In general the place was fine but the owners and rental managers need to deliver what is promised and paid for in advance.

Reviewer Comments: House was nice with with good amenities, but the back yard and patio were under construction/renovation....would have been nice to be warned of this as we were unable to enjoy the rear yard/grill/patio during our 9 day stay. 2nd floor bath had a water leak (rugs were soaked upon our arrival). Contacted rental company who responded quickly, but attempt to fix leak wasn't done until the last day of our 9 day stay...still leaked after repair (had no cold water in sink for 9 days). 2nd floor shower had not been cleaned prior to our arrival, nor had gas grill, but I guess they thought we wouldn't use grill due to condition of rear yard/patio.

Downstairs bed is like sleeping in a hammock (if you like that then this is the bed for you). This is our second time at this property and one of the beds was replaced from last year, along with its squeaky bed frame, so that was an upgrade from last stay. The backyard is torn up and under construction (tarped piles and plywood to walk across the ground to get to the BBQ) that wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the listing, so that was a disappointing aesthetic to the yard, however, we saw a new hot tub in the yard and thought we could overlook the construction of yard if that meant we could get in the jacuzzi, but it wasn’t setup yet (another bummer). The upstairs AC unit made terrible noises and I informed the management via text and NEVER received a reply for the entire time we were there. The welcome gift bag was a nice touch that was added from our last stay. The checkout process expects you to wash all dishes, laundry started, strip beds and empty all the trash, so be prepared to handle all of that by 10 AM on day of departure.

Lovely Place in quiet neighborhood

We really enjoyed our stay in this home. The house is well stocked with everything we needed in a small quiet neighborhood close to the bike paths. We brought some of our own but they have many games to choose from to play. We loved the the back patio for morning coffee, dinner and drinks. I'm only giving an overall 4 stars due to the fact the heater did not initially work when we arrived, which was a loose wire, we fixed on our own, a leg on the chair in the living room was so wobbly we were afraid to sit on it, we also fixed that. They charge a hefty cleaning fee yet they ask you to even strip the beds and start laundry (which we did) before departure. We always leave rentals as we find them so it didn't bother us but you should be aware. Overall it is a great property and we would love to visit again. I cannot forget to mention the neighborhood dog Kya that visited us on the patio every night. We are dog lovers so we really got excited to see her every night. If you are looking to relax enjoy the lake and mountains, this is your place!

Fabulous and Newly Renovated

This was a great place to stay, newly renovated and everything looks great, full of amenities, fully stocked cabin all you need is to bring your food and beverages. Perfect for family with kids, very quite area hardly any cars passing by. I would definitely recommend this cabin, we were very pleased with everything. Thank you, Jackie P.
