Salt Box: an Enchanting Historical Property with a Pool

We are pleased to offer you a truly whimsical treasure. Salt Box is an enchanting and quaint village home that has been tastefully renovated but still maintains its old style charm. There is a romantic covered outdoor living area that flows to a large walled backyard for privacy as well as garden entertaining. The main cottage has 3 air conditioned bedrooms, 2 on the main floor and an ensuite master bedroom suite upstairs. The cottage has 2 air conditioned bedrooms with a shared bathroom and outdoor shower. A large salt water swimming pool ties the two cottages together. The old style kitchen is equipped with fridge, stove, cooking utensils with a historic fireplace backdrop original from circa 1820. There are various lounging spaces which including the cozy indoor living room and the calm outdoor living room perfect for reading or having small dinner parties. The guest cottage has a small outdoor living room and outdoor eating area to have all your meals under cover overlooking the pool. There is a small BBQ made from repurposed stones from the vintage home where you can cook and sit under the trees.

We loved the whole property. We would golf cart to the pink sands beach and then come back and lounge by the pool. We used the bbq which was lots of fun. Even had morning fires on the cooler mornings. We loved The Salt Box

Sofia was very communicative and everything was perfectly maintained and thought out for our arrival. Sofia also provided helpful recommendations for our time on Harbour Island, which came in handy since it was our first time to the island. The house and guest house were well appointed and we enjoyed our time at the Salt Box. We hope to be back soon!

We had a lovely stay and cannot wait to return. The house has everything you need and more! We were just as excited to return from the beach each day to spend time in one of the many fun areas as we were to walk the pink sand beach. Lovely home, lovely hosts!

The property is a dream - a whimsy Bahaman escape! It was perfect for our mixed group of family and friends, 7 adults and 2 kids. After a long day at the beach we would return to Saltbox to rinse in the outdoor shower and then enjoy the rest of the day in the pool where the loungers are shaded. We went lobster spearing and used the “grill” to cook our catch and set a beautiful table with the linens and tableware provided. The outdoor dining area at Saltbox is so fabulous, that we cancelled our reservation at Da Vine the following night and picked up sushi to enjoy at the property. Sophia was easy to communicate with and the caretakers of the property, Brianna and Dolce, were very attentive and kind. Dolce even stopped by before church on Sunday (his day off) to check the generator and WiFi because the power went off Saturday night. There were a few pleasant surprises on property that I didn’t see in the description - a hammock, a swing, and a gazebo. The only negative for us was the upstairs bedroom does not have a door, so there is less privacy and it is warmer than the other rooms. It wouldn’t be a deal breaker for staying at Saltbox again, but we would rethink room assignments. We will definitely be back to stay at Saltbox and see our new friend, Bootsy Callico (the cat - named by my children).

It was lovely… although house keeping really wasn’t there to make beds and or wash and or replace any towels. We went to the beach almost everyday and we had dirty towels and would have loved them to have been washed at least once during our stay. We really had zero communication with the house keeper.

Family Time at The Salt Box

The Salt Box looked like it was straight out of a magazine. The house and cottage were beautifully decorated and the property itself was just beautiful as it was landscaped with tropical plants that are taken care of by a local gardener. There were plenty of spaces for the 8 of us to all gather together and the pool was the perfect size and very refreshing. The location of the house is central to everything on the island and the suggestions in the guest directory were great. We rented two golf carts, ate at many of the suggested restaurants, went fishing and snorkeling with one of the suggested guides. Overall, it was an amazing trip.

Salt Box is an amazing home in Harbour Island. The pool and outside area is perfect to relax at after a day at the beach. Great outside sitting areas. Bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable! Our family would easily go back!

Amazing Perfection!

Travel group included myself and Husband, both of our daughters ages 21 and 33 plus son-in-law and granddaughter not quite two years old. The property is just as it is described. We did rent a golf cart and we loved Mrs.. V’s for beach access, chairs/umbrella and great food and drink. Rental of crib was great. Our granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed running around the spacious property and chasing the roosters! Both dolce and Brianna were lovely and very sweet. We loved having a main house and guest house because it did give us some separation for those early mornings with a toddler.. the outdoor spaces are all spectacular!! we just cannot say enough good things about our experience!

Great Property

This is a great place to stay if you have a big party, the rooms are spaced out nicely. While the indoor living space is small, the outdoor living area and pool area make up for it! We had the best time and plan to visit again soon.

Girls’ Trip

This place is heaven! It’s exactly as pictured and better. It was was cozy but had plenty of space for our group of 7 - the outdoor seating areas are all beautiful! And the pool! So warm and relaxing. The host was also very responsive - when a circuit tripped, they were there within 10 minutes. I can’t recommend this property highly enough.

Harbour Island Trip Jan 2025

We truly enjoyed our stay at Salt Box. It’s a very charming Bahamian style property and very well kept. Once we walked through the house, we were amazed by the size of backyard/pool area and pool house which has 2 very nice bedrooms and a large bath. We ate most meals out but did have an incredible evening of grilled lobsters over the open fire on the parrilla. Great place for a family vacation.

Sofia grew up in Nassau, Bahamas. Her father is Bahamian (Austrian parents) and her mother is Uruguayan. She went away to school in Austria at 14 years old, then attended high school in Uruguay, college in New York City finished her bachelors in Business and Marketing in Montevideo, Uruguay. Sofia returned to Bahamas in 2015 and currently works as an artist and photographer based in The Exumas Islands. Sofia loves fitness, art and people and hopes that through her photography people can get closer to their own humanity and soul. Some of her acclaimed works include Bahama Mama: Portraits and Wisdom from the Mothers of Bahamian Society. This is a coffee table book that takes you through the islands of the Bahamas via the stories and women that shaped it. Sofia has a deep love for the Bahamas and it's history. She is currently working on her second Coffee Table Book, "Bahama Papa", the men's side of the story. Sofia's mission is to cultivate the artistic and cultural scene of the Bahamas and showcase the Bahamas from a deeper lens than just it's crystal clear beaches. She currently sells photographic prints and books from the Exumas and harbour island.
