Wake up to the sounds of the surf at Shore Drive, an oceanfront getaway with a private staircase leading down to the shores of Carlsbad, CA. This 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home features wall-to-wall windows on the ocean facing side of the home for an unobstructed, panoramic ocean view.

After spending the day at the beach, guests can enjoy home-cooked meals in the fully-stocked kitchen, or a sunset bbq on the patio, and restful nights in the comfortable bedrooms.

The Space
Shore Drive is a three bedroom, three bathroom, oceanfront home in beautiful Carlsbad, California. Please note since this home is oceanfront it does not have AC. Typically if you open the doors facing the ocean in warmer months the home will cool down quickly.

The Living Room
- Open concept living/dining/kitchen with a floor-to-ceiling windows along the entire west-facing wall of the house for panoramic ocean views
- Bright and sunny, ocean-view sitting area
- Separate entertainment nook with comfortable seating, a smart tv with access to live tv streaming and Netflix, and a selection of family games and puzzles
- SONOS sound system for guests to use.
- Laptop friendly desk and chair. Perfect for remote working or distance learning (with an ocean view!). Wifi speed is ultra-fast - over 400 Mbps download.

- Quartz-topped peninsula with barstool seating

Guests will have exclusive access to the entire property with self-check in capability. The house, garage and oceanfront patio are all solely for guest use. Located in the Terramar neighborhood known for its excellent reef surf break out front of the house and fun tidal pools for the kids to explore at low tide. Car is recommended. Shore Drive is serviced by both Uber and Lyft.

This property is professionally managed by Haustay Vacation Rentals. Quiet hours outdoors start at 9PM. No parties are allowed. Pets are allowed with a non-refundable pet fee of $150 (max two dogs).

We had a family reunion there with all 5 siblings. The layout of the house is great for gathering, cooking and ocean watching. Great views. Would highly recommend.

Breathtaking view!!

My family and I enjoyed our stay in Carlsbad and this house was nice. It was wonderful to wake up to watching surfers in the morning, sunsets in the evening and moonlight on the water at night. Thank you for a nice stay!

Excellent property that’s close to everything

For sure, the best part about this property was the expansive patio overlooking the ocean. You enjoy the same view and sounds from the entire living area and kitchen. Carlsbad was a wonderful town with great beaches. Entire stay was amazing.

You can't beat this location for a beach-front property. Absolutely amazing! We loved walking down to the tide pools and taking walks along the beach. It was clean, well-stocked, and had lots of beach toys in the garage. But....the beds were terrible. Very hard and uncomfortable so none of us slept well. If you're a person that can sleep on anything, you'll be fine. But for us, it was difficult to go home from your expensive vacation tired because of the poor beds. If they upgraded the beds, yes, 5-stars for sure!

Great Stay!!

The view is AMAZING! The host is communicative. Parts of the house are a little outdated but all the locations you want to spend your time in are in great shape!! We love to cook and the kitchen was our favorite place next to the view and location!

As advertised. View is just as good as pictured, house is older but nicely updated kitchen, tons of beach stuff avail which is helpful. We spent a ton of time outside on the patio watching surfers and dolphins. Def would come again

Carlsbad Beach House

Outstanding home right on the ocean. Well equipped accommodations. You will never want to leave the property, we ordered DoorDash for groceries and dinners. Beach is accessible during low tide, so make sure you time your visits down the stairs. Beautiful views and amazing sunsets.

Actually Relaxed!

We stayed two nights with a family of 5, the only thing that could have been better was to stay longer! We really enjoyed watching the surfers, dolphins, and sea lions from the patio and living room. Having an almost private beach was amazing. We didn’t have to deal with crowds, and it was really nice to go back to the house when we needed. Great place for a relaxing time.

Best ever

The location was perfect in that there is little to no public beach access nearby. The beach for the property itself is private. No boardwalk, just waves and surfers to watch. At night, the sound of breakers is the best. The home may be a little old for some but for my family, it was more than enough, had all the surfboards, boogieboards available, parking for three vehicles and super comfortable quarters.

Great Family Stay

Amazing views. Patio was huge and had spectacular views up and down the coast. The waves broke at the bottom of the property so there was the sound of the ocean all day / night. At low tide there was ample room for the kids to play on the beach. Tough to find easier access to the beach. Unlike a lot of properties right along major thoroughfares, this neighborhood is its own little enclave so there was no traffic noise. House had beach toys and great spot to hose off outdoors. We stayed with a family of four plus in-laws and had ample room.

A Rare Seaside Gem in Carlsbad

We had an amazing staycation at the villa of Shore Drive! The views were spectacular and the property was full of coastal charm! We couldn’t have planned for a more perfect weather to add to the gorgeous setting. Spent hours gazing out at the surf on the lovely patio watching the locals catch waves. We even spotted a few sea lions and playful dolphins out in the distance. The tide pols just below the property were fun to explore and the sunsets were unparalleled. Kitchen was well stocked and nice to prepare meals. All the bedrooms were comfortable and decorated impeccably. Even the garden courtyard was beautiful. We would love to return! Thank you for sharing this beachside treasure with us!

Magical

This property remained as magical as it was when we were there five years ago - nothing has changed and it was absolutely wonderful. Perfectly situated in a small private neighborhood just South of Carlsbad. Picture windows overlooking the ocean, as well as plenty of lounge chairs etc. on the back porch to enjoy the beautiful meditative ocean all day long from the bluff upon which the house sits. Then walking down the private steps to the beach - at low tide there are tidepools and you can walk all the way to the public beach on either side of the neighborhood. The gardens are beautifully maintained front and back. Fully equipped with just about anything you could want for meals. We used the barbecue effortlessly several times and prepared several wonderful family meals. All of the bedrooms had private baths, and were very comfortable. Each bed had a different firmness, ranging from very firm in the master to very soft for the room in back of the kitchen. Communication was easy and instructions were clear. We would definitely stay again!

Almost perfect

Gorgeous house. There were a cluster of inconveniences upon arrival (shades fallen, had to repair, unable to plug in electrical items near bed, had to move a heavy things, toilets screeching when flushed had to open lids and jiggle each time, bbq hose leaked so no tanks were usable)but those were eventually repaired by the manager of Haustay. The biggest disappointment was that the stairs which lead to the beach were covered in slimy moss way before you got to the bottom and, with no handrails, impossible to use. The photos on the site were, likely, very old and taken before the tides had gotten as high as they now are. So, we could not access the beach from there which is the main reason we chose to pay that high price for that house. That was sad. But, the views were exquisite and the space was comfortable and clean. The management is great. They did what they could to fix each problem as soon as they were aware of them.

Amazing Family Vacation

Can't say enough good things about this property! The view is absolutely stunning, the stairs leading down to the water is great, the windows when open provide the nicest of ocean breezes, and it's close to many different things in Carlsbad and SD.My wife and our three boys had a blast and can't wait to come back again. The only thing that I would change would be to have softer newer beds in all of the rooms and maybe make the front gate a little easier to open :-)
